Very hard to get any of the colors to show up on my daughter's dark brown hair. We tried on wet hair and dry hair--still not any better. What hint of color that did appear did wash away easily so the messiness factor was low.

The color works well if you wet your hair first. They make your hair kind of dull and stiff if you use a lot. The only complaint I have is that some of the sticks of chalk were broken when I got them but were still usable.

This chalk does not work. I followed the directions to wet/dampen the hair and no colour came out onto my hair. I have ombré hair so tried it on both dark and light. Very disappointed.

For people with blonde hair, it may be more permanent than one wash. I've shampooed by hair half a dozen times and I still have trace amounts of the color. For reference I did chalk my hair up wet (when I tried to do it dry, there was minimal color transfer).

I purchased this as part of a donation for children in need at Christmas. While I can't speak for how the gift recipient liked it, I can say it was great quality for a great price and highly recommended based on others reviews.

Not good with dark hair

The product works well, but I was disappointed that it does something to my daughter's hair and makes it totally un-brushable. It does wash out well, but I have to use extra conditioner to make up for the texture issue.

Had to draw over and over again in my son's blonde hair to get the colors to show through, but when they did, it looked great.
