Does not darken leather.
I used this on an older pair of tan ankle boots that were very dried out.Rubbed the cream in with bare hands. The first coat was immediately absorbed by the leather. Applied a second coat and allowed to dry.The boots were soft and supple and the cream did not darken the light tan leather at all.Buffing with a horsehair brush gave the finish a nice sheen.Good stuff.

Does Not Make Leather Dark
I applied this Cream to my New Iron Rangers 8119. Easy to apply and only used a Small Amount of Cream. It Conditioned the Leather without making the Leather Darker. This is different from Red Wing Neutral Cream in so after the Leather Cream Is absorbed in the Leather there is no Shine. There's no Wax in the Cream. I also used it on my Chippewa 1901M32 Boots.

Finally a leather conditioner that does not darken my 877
i really love this conditioner for my red wing 877 boots. i had to give the boots a good wash with saddle soap to remove the red wing boot cream and some other neatsfoot oils which really darkened my leather. once dried and back to its nice amber brown color and applied the natural leather conditioner. it made the boots softer and did not darken the leather one bit. this will be the only product i will ever use on my red wing 877’s now.

The ONLY thing you should use for your Iron Rangers!!!
I did a ton of research before buying the leather cream. It works perfectly. Brought my boots back to "like new" color. I cleaned the boots as directed, applied the cream (not too much, and work fast), let dry, and then sprayed with the leather protectant. They look just like they did the day I bought them...3 years ago.The boot oil Redwing recommends will darken your boots...big time. There are countless pictures in the oil reviews of how they turned light amber to almost black. Crazy that is what the Redwing shop recommended. So glad I read the reviews before applying the oil.

Beeswax is better. This product doesn’t repel water.
I originally bought this to not darken my new JUSTIN leather boots. I used it; and it does not darken the leather but when water gets on your boots it pulls the cream up out of the leather. I didn’t like it’s ability to resist water because of this. I have always used mink oil but found that beeswax works even better for absorption into the grain of the leather with the resistance to the elements without absorption of dirt to the boot. I wouldn’t buy this product again.

Does not darken, but has slight issues
This is an OK product for what it is advertised for. I used this on copper rough blacksmiths. It does not darken, but it left a slightly sticky residue on my fingers after applying. I could also see a sheen on the boots after applying. I do use my fingers to apply. It does conditions, but the residue and sheen left on boots is why I am leaving 3 stars. I tried the Bickmore 4 conditioner and that work better IMHO. It does not darken the leather and the application is "smoother" and it seems to condition the leather just a tad better, plus you get more in the bottle.

Less effective than oil, won't darken significantly
I decided to use the product on my Iron Ranger 8085s. The two most important notes on this product is that it won't permanently darken the leather like mink or boot oil, which is nice. That being said, it is far less effective than the oil when it comes to conditioning the boots. You will need to use it regularly (think, once every week or two) as opposed to an oil that could be used monthly. It will allow for much more creasing, but will result in a much better patina than mink oil

Great for leather. Doesn't darken.
Works a treat on calfskin leather trim on my gaming chair. I used it on an old leather chair also and it brought this up very nicely. It did not darken the deep burgundy colour at all.

Doesnt darken leather
I have been using Redwing mink oil on my boots which is well known to darken the leather.Got a new pair of Redwings and really like the colour so didnt want to darken them. This was recommended on many sites not to darken the leather.Used it and very impressed ,easy to apply and doesnt darken the leather. Would recommend it.
