Totally worth it. Packs a great punch!
This is a great little nightlight/sound machine! Picked it out in a hurry at the hospital after my daughter was born because I realized we forgot to get one (second kid problems!), so I didn’t have time to do much of any research. The Amazon truck beat us to our house the day we came home, and I was able to set it up in time for bedtime (not that anyone sleeps with a newborn... am I right?)We’re over two months in and we have gotten a lot of use out of this machine. It is GREAT. It stays on pretty much 24/7 - partly because I forget to turn it off, partly so I know I can walk into the bedroom and my baby will calm down. When she’s fussy, she almost immediately settles down when she hears the white noise. It also helps her sleep though the night - us too, because it masks some of the sounds she makes as she sleeps.Pros:- Ridiculously easy to operate. I love that I can set the light color, brightness, sound, and volume once and not mess with it again/reset it. I can turn it off, unplug and change rooms, etc and it has always come back to the last ‘played’ settings.- Versatility! Endless options for how to set it up. With the light and sound, you can choose to use one or both at the same time. Timer or continuous. Tons of sound options, too!- Perfect for babies/nursery. The buttons don’t make any unnecessary clicks or sounds and there aren’t bright LED lights for the buttons like we’ve experienced with other machines and monitors.Cons:- With how we currently have it set up, it’s on my night stand as baby is sleeping next to our bed. I wanted the sound directed toward baby, so the night light ends up facing me. It’s the design, so I get it. I want it light enough that I can see what I’m doing during those 3am breastfeeding sessions without having to turn on extra lights and wake my husband or the baby. If I moved it across the room I’m sure it would fix the problem, but just wanted to note you may have to block it with something if you have a similar setup to me.- I can’t remember all the functions without referring back to the manual. You can hold down the buttons to make them do particular things but I just can’t recall what/how/why. Since I don’t really change anything on it, it isn’t a big deal for now. When my 3-year-old gets her hands on it and changes the settings I like, I’ll be in trouble. We’ll face that when the time comes!Overall, I love this machine and the price is great. Looking forward to using this for a long, long time! I have a feeling I will miss the white noise when it gets moved to the nursery when the baby starts sleeping in her crib, so I may have to get another one to keep in my room!

Exceeded expectations
Personally I’ve tried the Hatch Rest+, yogasleep hushh portable, Adaptive sound Technologies lectrofan Kinder, and this rRacher R2 white noise machine. The hatch is great but expensive. We didn’t use the functions enough to be worth the cost (and since I’m on a mesh network, I found the audio monitor wouldn’t work since I can’t force my phone to the 2.4ghz network). The yogasleep we use all the time in the car and on the go. I do recommend that but not as your nursery white noise item since you’d have to recharge constantly (and it might stop in the middle of the night). The kinder was just ok. I wanted to try it due to the high fidelity sound …which was clear, but I just felt the volume wouldn’t go high enough, especially if it had to be at a plug in the wall (else you need an extension cord). Additionally the app- as others have mentioned- was quite clunky and didn’t always connect. If I were going for needed something I can control through mobile, I’d say just get the rest (or buy a used one).I really just needed something low tech that would be on all night for 12 hrs. In the end the Reacher R2 was better both in terms of sound volume, simplicity, and convenience (with a cord, I could place it closer to the crib vs at the wall plug). We actually ended up using it a lot more than I expected with us using the little lullaby sounds too to just soothe our son and cue him to starting to wind down. I even brought it with us to Disneyland weekend trip for the nights. It’s small enough that you won’t mind bringing it and the chord. The fact that it’s low tech with multiple buttons for types of noise (eg one for white noise and one for lullaby sounds) means I can easy switch between the two without too much cycling. Each button cycles through its type of sounds individually but also plays a ding when it’s reset to the beginning of the list. Honestly, if you are wanting something simple at home or just not as pretty a penny as the hatch rest, I’d say try this out! You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Wish i got sooner
Seriously, this sound machine is a game-changer. I've been sleeping so much better since I got it. The different nature sounds are super relaxing, and it really drowns out the street noise. I can't believe I didn't buy one of these sooner. Best purchase I've made in a while!
