Italian Panettone Christmas Cake Gran Milanese 500 gr

This is an authentic Milanese-style Panettone. It is not as tall as some of the "panettone industriale" that you will find in big box stores. Yes, those are imported from Italy, too. However, there are panettone and then there are great panettone. The Bonifanti is definitely in the "great" category. While they use a sourdough starter, the cake itself is not at the least sour. Rather, the crumb has a complex sweetness, not just a sugary sweet taste. They also use high quality dried fruits and rinds (canditi) that enhance the flavor and texture.

I could have eaten it all in one sitting - it was sooooo good. When I went back it didn't have the same impact but I still managed to eat it 😉😉. It's a bit expensive thus the 4 stars but quality products have a price. Go for it and enjoy!
