Most Pro mics have a MALE XLR. Mine had a FEMALE, so no match to my mixer. PROBLEM SOLVED!
This is an odd case: My SONY C-38b microphone, imported from Japan, has a hard-wired, permanent cable attached...and the connector is a FEMALE XLR! Weird. I guess they really do things differently in Japan! This very well-constructed adapter, with MALE pins on BOTH ends, solved the problem. Be absolutely SURE this is what you need before ordering, I suggest. The quality is excellent, but if you're not at a "pro" level in audio (or at least, "semi-pro") I find a lot of novices get very confused over cables and connectors. Just sayin'. This is really an oddball adapter, but count on amazing Amazon to have it. (I'll bet even most good pro audio retailers would not have this in stock.) Delivery was excellent and fast, as always.
