Works fine, but airline had reservations
This device is a reasonable alternative to lugging a car seat on to a plane. It fits over the seat back and could cause objection by a passenger seated behind it if it interferes with using a tray table. We ran into a problem with Alaska Airlines at SEATAC because the gate attendant had never seen one before. A manager was called to help and we were permitted to use it. The device is approved but be prepared for dealing with gate and flight attendants who may not know it. It impressed us as well made and easy to use.

Helpful to keep small children in their seats
I bought this last minute before a trip to help contain our toddler. It was fairly easy to install (and store) and definitely did a better job of keeping her from slipping out of her seat than the regular seat belt would have done. (I wish there was a way to have a between the leg strap, but...) My little one is quite little (near 20lbs at the time), so this was definitely an improvement. Not sure if it would be as helpful for a slightly larger child.

Great buy
I recently purchased the Newroutes Child Airplane Safety Travel Harness for a flight with my toddler, and it was a game-changer. Setting it up was straightforward—it attaches securely to the airplane seat and feels very sturdy. My child seemed comfortable wearing it, and I felt much more at ease knowing they had an extra layer of protection during the flight.

Great way to travel with a toddler
We bought this travel harness for my 2 year old. It is compact, easy to install and to adjust. My toddler was secured the entire flight. He liked being able to sit in the big boy seat. It was so much easier than bringing his car seat. It's durable and built well. I would recommend! It definitely provided my child with extra security vs just using the seatbelt.

FAA approved and works!
We bought this a couple of years ago for our youngest. We did not want to carry a car seat on the plane and looked for any alternatives. Unfortunately, there weren't many, save this harness, which is FAA approved and specifically mentioned on numerous airline websites. The flight attendants will look at you oddly, but it has all the proper certification labels so there won't be problems.Another reviewer suggested using an anti-slip mat (the kind for silverware drawers) to prevent the child from sinking. We did that and it worked like a charm. A great tip! Our sitting-up infant didn't have to sit on our lap and just played in their seat the majority of the flight. For reference, we live internationally, so our flights are 6+ hours on the norm. We used the harness a total of four times and it worked great in all those of moments. Our son would get restless after a bit, so we'd unbuckle him and play with him in our row.The straps are high quality seat belt material and the buckles are stainless and feel just like the type airlines use. It does take some getting used to when setting it up. I would practice a few stationary chairs at home before the flight. We practiced once and were able to set it up on the flight relatively easy. It helps you get to board earlier with your children because you'll have to release the tray in the seat behind you to put the strap around (the tray will close with the strap if you're worried about that). The price is a little steep but honestly the hassle it saves you from lugging a carseat around is worth its weight in gold.

Hassle and rude
DONT GET THIS!I have traveled with my child from the time she was only a few months old to present day (she is 4). She has traveled all over the US and been to Europe. This device is a total waste of money. I bought it prior to a 4 hour domestic flight as a tester for a trip to Iceland.1. The plastic Buckley that keeps the excess belt line secure broke within about 5 minutes of getting on the plane.2. I didn’t realize (thats on me) that to use this you have to buckle it all the way around the seat which then straps the table top for the person behind you to the seat back. This means the person in the seat behind this device CAN NOT use their tray table. Let’s be honest. You purchased the portion of the seat that your kids butt sits in. You DID NOT purchase the back of the seat…You do NOT have the right to prohibit another person from using the tray table because you bought this thoroughly stupid contraption.3. It took almost 10 minutes to get the whole thing strapped to the seat correctly and secure…How often is plane boarding offering you that much time to screw around in teh aisle for unnecessary “toys?!”4. My kid HATED it. The normal seat belt worked just as well as this and with far less frustration or work.5. JUST DONT DO IT.We tossed it at our layover. That is how ridiculous this was. She still travels all over iwth me and we dont have any issues WITHOUT this.
