Tastes Great, Excellent for Beverages; It's Vanilla, But Not "Vanilla Extract"
First off, don't blame the manufacturer if the seller sends you the wrong product. The product you are supposed to be getting is labeled "pure vanilla." Some sellers are apparently swapping out the listed product for another product by the same brand, that also contains preservatives and artificial flavors.I'm a careful consumer and I believe that the product in the picture--"Vanilla Totonac's Pure Vanilla"--is indeed pure vanilla. But it's not vanilla extract, as that term is used in the U.S. I'm no chemist, but clearly does not contain the vodka-level 35% alcohol required for the FDA definition. If you look carefully on the bottle, it's not labeled as "vanilla extract"--it's called "vanilla" or "vanilla bean extract." The immediate impact of this is that it won't have the same properties when used for baking. Some folks like to use copious vanilla extract in pie crusts because it will evaporate before water will, leaving things flaky; not so here. But, you know what--who cares? It's delicious and half the price of McCormick's. I use it as a flavor enhancer for cocoa smoothies that I make every day. It has an intense floral aroma and flavor, almost like vanilla candy. I did a taste test with the same quantity of McCormick's and Totonac's in smoothies and there was no comparison. The McCormick's was subtle and almost chemically tasting with all the alcohol. The Totonac's was the perfect complement to the chocolate flavor, much better indeed. The flavor of this product is much more intense and floral than traditional high-alcohol vanilla extract, so I can see how people might complain if they used it in baked goods. It appears to contain little or no alcohol, so its mixing properties will be different, especially with dissolving other spices or flavors. To be quite honest, we haven't tried it in baked goods, and in fact bought a reserve bottle of McCormick's for that purpose. I feel like you could overcome the alcohol issue with other ingredients, but we haven't tried. But for beverages, ice creams, puddings, or anywhere else other than baked goods, this is outstanding and probably the most pleasant vanilla I've ever had. I drink hearty amounts of it every day and wouldn't hesitate to put it in coffee or smoothies, or anywhere else you want to enhance a chocolate-like flavor.

Best vanilla extract ever.
Love this vanilla. I use it for making home made oat milk and the flavor of this vanilla is the best I've ever tasted. It has real vanilla beans inside the bottle, uses a dark tinted bottle to filter out light to ensure longevity and quality of the vanilla and is extremely well made. The bottle is huge, way bigger than I though. Coloring is all natural with no artificial coloring. I know there's a few reviews stating that there is caramel coloring added but either the retailers who sell this on amazon were scammed or I've just never gotten that bottle of extract. The vanilla is not a syrup texture, it's thin but packs great flavor and tastes/smells amazing. Been buying this vanilla for years and will never buy any other. I'm extremely picky on quality and taste and this vanilla wins over all the others i have ever tried.

Vanilla
I bought this same brand when I was in Mexico. It is so good. Since I was running low, I wanted to make sure that I got the same vanilla, before it may not be available. There is just something special about Mexican vanilla. The flavor is strong and good.

Best vanilla EVER!
A friend told me she always asks our missionaries to bring a bottle back after their trip there. This is hands down the most delicious, and strong vanilla I have ever used. I will repurchase this as needed. Outstanding product, worth every cent. Highly recommend!

This has no alcohol in it and was like muddy water….
Vanilla extract is created with vanilla bean soaked in ethanol for 6 months. This contains no alcohol. Further, bring from Mexico and this is a plastic bottle and no way to really trust the source- it’s kinda scary to even ingest. Alcohol would at least kill 99.8% of nasty bacteria. It was like dark water with a vanilla smell (no flavor) in it. Way to dark to explain the lack of flavor. Complete waste and I felt sick an hour later after I put a couple drops on my tongue. I have no idea if it was related, but I can say you can’t call this extract if you don’t have at least 15% alcohol by volume. I think most are 30%. I believe they place it in boiling water prior to placing it in alcohol when manufactured which explains it being 15-30% and not 40% that vodka is. (80 proof is 40% alcohol). Regardless/ this contains 0%…

So fragrant
Love the floral notes! I use this for almost all of my baking--cakes to cookies. A decided step above the imItation vanilla extract I used to buy. I appreciate being able to buy a big bottle--a good value. Highly recommended
