Right OUT The Box
I don't normally like writing reviews until I have had the item awhile but OMG!! I just received my bag and I LOVE IT!!! The leather smell hits you as soon as you open the box. The look is professional and it has ample space and enough compartments for all my teacher needs. I will say the inside of the bag DOES NOT look like the picture (I bought the brown one). The inside is a paisley print which I personally like better than the beige in the picture. The bag isn't that heavy weighing a little more than 6 lbs. When I start adding my things its starts to get heavy BUT THERE ARE WHEELS!! It rolls very smoothly on both tile and carpet. The telescoping handle is great especially if you are tall. And I love how it disappears in its own zippered compartment.Right out the box, I love this roller bag.

Excellent bag for mobile office
This bag is of excellent quality and construction. Its leather so it's going to take some breaking in. I'm a therapist and I have multiple office locations. I got this to carry tech around in. I recently was told I shouldn't lift over 10 lbs and this was the solution. I only have to lift it in and out of the car. The wheels seem very durable. The only negative, and not enough for me to remove a star, is that the handle is not entirely separate from the rest of the bag. I have enough sewing skills to fix this issue.

Love this Bag (The Horizontal One)! Like this Bag (The Vertical One)!
I get so many compliments when I roll in to the office with this bag. It looks very elegant and is more stylish than the black nylon bags. It does not hold a lot of items--I can fit my laptop with sleeve and some file folders, calendar, writing pad, etc... without any trouble but it starts getting packed if I try to put a book or two in there. The outside pocket holds my wallet, sunglasses, and keys. Inside pockets for pencils, pens, cell phone, and small makeup bag. Overall, it's a winner and totally worth the money!July 1, 20142nd Review. After almost four years of abusing this briefcase across city streets, up and down stairs, and as a trolley for boxes, it's time to get another one. To the cursory eye, it looks fine and other people would probably keep using it for another six months or so. But if you look closely, some of the stitching is getting frayed and the bottom of the briefcase is coming apart. But I think it's actually a testament to the product that it's held together thus far. I've kicked it, dropped it, stood on it, and my son has hurled it down the stairs. Perhaps I'll try another color but the red is still very eye catching and I get many compliments from colleagues. My husband bought me the new vertical McKlein as a replacement for the horizontal one that I had for almost four years. So far, I'm not as pleased as I was with the horizontal one. Yes, it would certainly go down narrow aisles (airplanes and classrooms) more easily. BUT because there is a smaller opening, it's harder to pry it open to get folders and other things into your bag. Hence, it's also tighter. I will give a follow-up review in a couple of weeks but so far I'm thinking of going to the trash dump and getting back my old McKlein.August 20, 2014I am coming around to my new vertical McKlein but one word of warning: If you are petite (I'm 5'1"), the vertical is harder to lug up and down steps since it's longer. I definitely will go back to the horizontal when this one expires in four years or so.September 2019I didn't realize it has been over 5 years since I got my second McKlein. It's now time to get my third one. It still looks great but the wheel is a bit wonky and the noise drives me crazy. Otherwise, this has been a great product. I've looked at other more expensive products and this one is definitely the worth the money. I am going back to the red horizontal bag.

Almost Perfect (for me)
The minute I saw this bag, I knew it was for me. The design, style (especially the style) and functionality were exactly what I needed. When I opened the box and unpackaged the bag, I knew the leather was not inexpensive. The smell that wafted out as I removed the packaging was so strong that it gave me a mild headache. I have a sensitivity to the scent of leather. However, had I kept the bag, I would have endured the sensory overload as I knew it would dissipate.I ordered the red and it was absolutely gorgeous. As others have mentioned, the leather is stiff, but nothing that makes the bag cumbersome. It felt sturdy, rolled easily and I especially loved that the travel handle is retractable and is hidden when not in use.I was beaming from ear to ear because I finally found a computer bag that was both stylish and functional. So why did I return it? This reason should not deter anyone from purchasing, but for me, it was a dealbreaker: The inside lining. It was not that bright blue that you see in the pictures, but a paisley print that just bothered me. Granted, how often would I be staring inside the bag? Not often, but it was enough for me to return it. It was just too much, even if it would be hidden. I cannot explain it; the pattern just bothered me, so I re-packaged and sent it back.Another reviewer mentioned that the customer service was terrible, and it took them some time to get their refund. I was fortunate. I returned it on a Monday and had my refund a few days later. It was effortless. If the interior color is not an issue, I would recommend buying. It truly is a beautiful bag. Also, if anyone purchases this bag after this review and they receive one that has that solid, bright blue lining, please let me know so I can re-purchase :-).
