Living in Ancient Mesopotamia (Living in the Ancient World)

By necessity, "Living in Ancient Mesolpotamia" covers a lot of history. It starts at the dawn of Mesopotamian history and proceeds through time to the advent of the Persian Empire. The book touches on some of the great figures of Mesopotamian history but its focus is on daily daiily life. The book is well written and perfectly geared towards a middle school audience. But what really makes this a great book are all of the beautiful historical illustrations. The book has images by such noted illustrators as John James and Oliver Frey. By far, the greatest illustrations are by the Frenchman, Jean Claude Golvin. In my opinion, Golvin is the greatest historical ilustrator there has ever been. Unfortunately, very few of his illustrations have been published in English language books. The "Living in the Ancient World" series is fantastic. Highly recommended.
