Wear Gloves, I use medical style.
Wear Gloves, this will prolong the life of this bulb, do not even take it out of the nicely packaged box without wearing gloves, if you do it will die sooner than it would have, or maybe even instantly. I am not sure why this has terrible reviews, I put mine in 1/15/14. Works good. Not as bright as OEM, but if I cared I would get OEM which really does not last all that long anyway, instead I was a cheap skate and saved my money, I have replaced 5 bulbs over the roughly 5 years I have had the tv. 4 of them Phillips, this one knock off. The Phillips typically last at least a year of heavy use, this tv used to be in my Family room. If it was still in my Family room OEM is the way to go for me. This TV is now in my master bedroom, gets used at least 3 hours daily. If this bulb makes it 90 days it was a 5 star purchase for me. Went into my TV smooth, and effortless, just like the 4 prior OEM bulbs. Came surprisingly well packaged. I will update my review when I purchase my next bulb. I used on a 56in Samsung TV.UPDATE 4/23/14, still going strong! Will keep updating as time progresses.UPDATE 10/31/14, still going strong! Will keep updating as time progresses.Update 6/4/15 still going but starting to get dimmer will continue to updateUpdate 10/2/15 still going but definitely dimmer, will be replacing soon. Cant believe the lifespan of this bulb at this point though, regardless of the price, will be replacing with one here on Amazon when I am ready.

Way too many Samsung models that hardly differentiate..
The people who sold me the TV gave me the model listing of where they bought it online, and I bought this lamp accordingly when it (of @#^!&ing course) waited to die until after I tested it, but before I was able to set it up and actually use it in my new house a month down the road - it was off and unplugged the entire time..Anyway, this seemed like the right bulb given the model number and that it was a 56-in TV that looked EXACTLY like the one in the picture. I'm not saying the bulb won't work for ANYONE'S TV, but I am saying that some online sellers post a model number that is different from the one printed on the side of the TV. Also, if you already don't trust info from others (like I shouldn't have) and read the side of the TV to begin with, you STILL might end up with the wrong lamp because Samsung has an infuriating number of TVs with the EXACT SAME SPECS AND MODEL YEAR THAT STILL USE VERY DIFFERENT PARTS.

Lights out!
These things are cheap bulb replacements and for the cost it's only going to last for so long until you need to replace it once again. I have a Samsung 50in DLP which I purchased in 2006. Surprisingly still showing a good picture but not surprisingly falling apart with age. I think for my case I've purchased 2 or 3 of these bulbs that have burnt out over the last year. I think these bulbs vary in terms of how long they last so there's no telling what you're gonna get exactly. I guess I would expect that these bulbs last anywhere from 2-5 months.

First Disappointed, then ANGRY!!!
The first picture was from the first of two bulbs I purchased. The rest of the pictures are from the second bulb I installed; as you can see it damaged the Ballast Assembly in my TV.I purchased these bulbs, without checking the reviews, in Jun 2020, as back-ups (just because I like to have extra bulbs on hand). I had to install the first bulb in December 2020. [First Disappointment] As you can see in the first picture, the bulb cracked after four months and I had to install the second bulb in April 2021. [Now ANGER!!] The second bulb lasted less than 30 days, and it fried the Ballast Assembly on my TV (see the pictures). I have had this TV since 2008-9. I have never had bulbs this bad in since we've had this TV!!

BP96-01653A for SAMSUNG HL50A650C1F
Purchased 2 of these lamps in January. The price is right, the service was good, but lamp didn't last anywhere near as long as it should. The first one was defective and couldn't be installed. Got a refund right away. The second light installed easily and worked well for a little while (4 mos). The TV is used for approximately 2-3 hrs per day...from January to May and the light is already out. The price is right...but wouldn't recommed ordering more than one at a time...since they don't always arrive in working order. Going to order another one here, because I think it doesn't matter where you get them this could be a problem. Did get it quickly and got the refund quickly. It should have lasted much longer which is the reason for my poor review.

Easy installation. Lamp only lasted 90 days but the return and refund process was easy. Ordered a new one.
Confirmed by the tag on the back of the tv that this was the correct lamp. Installation was simple. Lamp only lasted 90 days but Amazon gave me a full credit even before I shipped the old one back to them at no charge. I hope the new lamp lasts longer. I may be a little more conservative in my brightness settings this time as I have heard that really beats the lamp up when it is on a high setting.

Samsung DLP lamp
I've had the lamp for about a month now. It was easy to install and It is working great so far. Judging by other reviews it might take a bit longer to see how it does long term. It satisfied my curiosity that it was the only thing wrong with the DLP tv. I was afraid it was something more critical and would have meant dumping the tv if it was. Basically treating it as a $35 diagnosis.
