I received 2 filters that are the size described with black fiberous material inside and that fit my GE range hood perfectly. I give this 4 stars only because it doesn't appear to me there is enough carbon fiber to provide lasting (9-12 months as labeled) significant odor filtration for heavy cooking. Otherwise, it appears to be a very good product for the price and should be more effective than an old filter or none at all. If you fry a lot, I would recommend spending more on a filter with charcoal.

I have a rental condo that I'm planning on rehabbing in the near future so I didn't want to be spending big money on an item that's going to be replaced soon. The vent hood is original and 25 years old. Don't think the filter has ever been changed. Well finding one that would fit was certainly a challenge. Went to 2 sites that specialize in filters and they didn't have anything that was an exact fit. Found this on Amazon and it is perfect. Arrived within a few days of ordering. Good quality for the price. I wouldn't consider this a permanent filter; for a disposable it's very good. Does a very good job of filtering too.

Replaced old range fan filter.

Fits perfectly. I think it's important to notice that this fan/vent system has a tray for two filter inserts. One is the carbon filter and the other is a metal mesh. I noticed some complaints that one or the other of the items didn't contain both. To clarify, you will probably also want this piece:  GE Aluminum Hood Vent Microwave Filter, WB2X2893

Great product, fit perfectly.

They arrived timely. They fit. And they seem to work. Not sure how long they last yet.

Only has a very thin layer of filtering material, half the thickness of the original part.
