This is Majic Ship's original 1970 self-titled LP originally released on the Bel-Ami label. It has not been reissued in it's original form since the 1993 Afterglow bootleg, which suffered from poor quality. New liner notes by the band accompany this release, much improved in sound and photo quality.

Perfect Music, Almost Perfect Quality
Majic Ship is a weird name, but I digress. I love the music of Majic Ship. I would call them one of the best heavy rock bands from the early 70's. Unfortunately, the audio quality seems to be a bit off. Some songs sound like decent vinyl rips instead of the master tapes. It seems like most songs cut off right at the end, making it seem like there were some other issues with the tapes. Believe me, the purchase is still worth it, but it just seems a bit lacking on the quality.

Majic Ship - self-titled (Gear Fab)
Originally released in 1970, as this was obviously the obscure / off-the-radar NY psych / pop band's sole effort. Surprisingly, great - much better than I had anticipated. Majic Ship notably existed between 1966-71. Couldn't get enough of the suitable opener "Sioux City Blues" (reminds me - of, say Quicksilver Messenger Service or early Airplane), the awesome "Life's Lonely Road", the well-played "Where Are We Going", the eleven-minute epic "Down By The River" as it eventually morphs into Buffalo Springfield's "What It's Worth" (possibly, the CD reissue's best track, hands down), "Nightmare" and the rocking "Cosmo's Theme". Recommended for fans of the Electric Prunes, Love, the Alarm Clocks and maybe Ultimate Spinach.

it is pure majic.....
I grew up with this record and still have an original vinyl copy of the Bel-Ami label L.P. along with all of the early Majic Ship singles...The Lead Guitarist Phillip Polimeni is my Father...The album opens with a wonderful FUZZ-GUITAR sound then moves smoothe on into some tight HARMONY VOCALS,PRETTY BALLADS,MODDISH DITTIES and GROOVIN' INSTRUMENTALS...Essential piece of the puzzle for the 60's enthusiast...All the way from Brooklyn N.Y. circa 1969...NOW DIG IT...

Is it from an LP
The band are ok, but the guitar work is very average, even for early 70's.Songs not bad as I bought CD for Wednesday morning dew, a great psych ballad. In places I heard crackles which is a LP dub give away, perhps masters are lost.Sadly overall does not inspire as a lost classic. Down by the river by N Young is a difficult 10 mins

Top notch heavy psych rock.
Released in 1970, but sounds like vintage 68. Many memorable songs and tunes, here.Lots of psychedelic rarities from the period fail to live up to expectations, but this one delivers the goods, in spades! Highly recommended.

Still Majic after all those Years...
