Good idea, but...
Annie came home to stay with her grandmother, and ended up staying to help her with the fire damage on her historical home in Kentucky. Going through old things in the attic, a box of letters was found. The letters were mostly from her grandmother's brother who was killed in WWII. Under the box was a special compartment with a letter and a picture, pointing them to a connection to Italy.Annie and her best friend decide to go to Italy to find this connection. This was a pretty good book but not a page turner, nor was it highly romantic. There were lots of characters and a number of small stories going on around two or three main stories, but the peripheral stories seem to be page fillers that didn't amount to much. Could have been shorter or focus more on details of the main story.

Feels like coming home
Picking up this book filled me with such excitement to be reunited with characters that I love so much. Every time Beulah and Annie sit down for a cup of coffee, I feel like I am right there with them. These books have truly had an impact on my life. I find myself longing to slow down and be thoughtful even when I'm making small decisions. I also find myself appreciating our small Kentucky farm and all it provides for us more with every page turned. I read this book from cover to cover in only three days and am already eager for the third installment! Thank you, Angela, and please get started on number 3!

Good comes out of seeming evil
Annie,, Beulah, Betty, Jake all walk through our life as we experience situations so like theirs. Relating to them kept me reading times when I should have stopped. A very pleasant read.

Full of nice surprises...
The story continues on May Hollow Road with Annie finding old, war-time letters hidden away in the old stone house that belongs to her family. The letters will lead Annie on a great adventure and forever change her family and another family overseas. Will Annie open herself up to love or will she continue to hide behind those walls around her heart?Guarded is a quick read and keeps you turning the pages, ready to see what will happen next. This second installment in the May Hollow Trilogy doesn't disappoint!

Slow but good
If this book didn't have so many unnecessary sentences in it I may have given it 4 stars. The premise is very good, and I enjoyed the story given it was a slow read.Sentences stating the waitress took their order and walked away are totally worthless fillers. I wanted the meat of the story not words that added nothing but another line on the page. Yet in other places the writing was very descriptive and filled your senses.Overall, it was a nice story and I did finish it. Mostly it s a predictable love story with a few interesting twists and turns. Read it if you have nothing else.

Guarded #2 of Trilogy
If you want open, and real this is a very good story. Talks about a soldier from Kentucky who went to Italy in World War II and fell in love. Lots of tears and humor from one country to another. Be sure to get book #3 as well-Granted. Because you don’t want to put this story down.

Enjoyable
A very good read. Realistic characters and events enables the reader to connect at an emotional level with most of the characters. The history, visual descriptions & the bit of mystery all blend together to pull the reader into the story & feel a bond with the main characters. I would recommend the book to my friends.
