Good product.
Worthwhile. I didn't use the cover as my horse was hesitant to use it, and the bucket arrived on day one of the extreme weather. Temps ranged from -8 to 13 for two weeks. After 10 hrs, surface ice no more than 1/2" thick and my horse easily broke through it. Bucket was Ice free on the sides and bottom. .

Doesn't work as hoped.
This bucket holder appears to be well constructed, but it does not keep the water from freezing. The water will freeze once the barn temp is about 28 degrees, not good enough when we routinely have temps in the single digits. The "heat retaining ring" for the top is just a piece of plastic, and starts forming ice on it almost as soon as you put the water in. It doesn't help at all. (Our water comes out of the tap in the winter at about 35 degrees.) If you put hot water in it it will keep it warm for a decent amount of time. I am going to put an insulated floating top in it that another manufacturer sells and see if that helps. Overall I am disappointed.

Of no value
I purchased one of these s it seemed easier than running drop cords and running bucket heaters. Boy was I wrong. The first night in use the temps dropped to 16 degrees F and this product froze, not solid but enough to render it worthless. I installed the product in a windless shelter so there wasn't a wind chill factor to consider. Just all in all a poor product as advertised. It does make a good bucket holder but I am certain you can a bucket holder cheaper than $110.00. I am sorry I had to give it even a one star rating

Recommend Highly!
Would recommend buying the insulated bucket holder. We had negative nine degrees and as long as you add half a bucket of warm water there was no water icing up. Definitely worth the money.

We had the coldest night in CT below zero last ...
We had the coldest night in CT below zero last night and my horse had this insulated bucket holder and it was the only bucket in the barn that was not frozen last night, not even ice around the sides of the holder.

Highly Recommended
-5 below zero this morning - these water buckets had a very thin layer of ice on the top. When the temps stay above zero we've had no ice at all. They are remarkable if you live in a cold climate. Highly recommend!

So far I'm very happy with the bucket and holder
So far I'm very happy with the bucket and holder. Still haven't had below freezing weather yet. Hopefully it will stand up to the reviews I've read.
