Mind blowing
This book is enlightening, to the point of mind blowing. Not recommended for the squeamish, or those who are not serious about this path. Well written, and for the first time in a very long time, I had to break out a dictionary for a couple of words.

Great book, but it came damaged.
Great book! However, the cover and first few pages were sliced (I’m guessing by a box cutter at the factory). Not too thrilled about having to pay for a damaged book.

A book to make you think
One of a series of books on Northern Tradition Paganism (as opposed to Asatru and other Reconstructionist religions,) this book is geared towards those interested in learning of Northern Tradition Shamanism. It offers enough information to satisfy those who just want to understand the concepts and practices involved, but also could be viewed as a how-to manual for serious students. Unlike the many "instant witch" books I have seen, this book warns readers of the difficulties and dangers of a path meant only for those called to it.Like all of Raven Kaldera's books that I have read so far, the style and subject draws the reader in to the point where it is difficult to put the book down. It's like an afternoon visit too soon ended, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Iffy author, but a good read
I truly did love this book, and I think I would venture on to read some of his others. However, a large part of the pagan community(and everyone else) views Raven Kaldera as a pompous jerk, who is known to put down people of different beliefs, sexual identities (even though he himself identifies as such) and is very argumentative when it comes to other people trying to differentiate their experiences with his. I love his writing and his work, I'm just not sure about his character overall. But a fantastic read! Very informative and really gets you involved and pushes you to learn.

Book is not go great.
Book came in a timely manner, but it's full of garbage facts. Its very preachy and inaccurate to major Northern traditions. He basically invented his own version of this mythos and it's pretty out there - would not recommend.

Invaluable book
This book is the only book on Northern Tradition Shamanism that I have found. After reading the Jotunbok I immediately went out and bought the rest. This will not replace being spirit taught but will give you a leg up. The book is well written and thorough. Other than some minor editing issues this is a great book. I highly recommend it.

good for ego
the book was well written but i found it too full of the writer's own ego, plenty of description, if you like books that focus on the writer rather than what they were trying to teach. I had to pick out the bits that i wanted, An easy read though, Would not use for a reference book but look for other books.
