Fast Shipping and Works
I was trying to find a way to connect an external mic to my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It was more of an ordeal than I thought it would be.I originally bought an iRig preamp, which states that it is compatible with any XLR microphone . . . and I obviously had no idea what that meant. The microphone I bought had a 3.5 mm plug. So it was a no go.None of the electronics stores locally had what I was looking for, so back to Amazon I go. I found this one, the shipping was pretty quick.I connected it to the preamp and then plugged the microphone into the adapter . . . and it works! It seems like a pretty solid piece. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that the 3.5 mm plug doesn't slide all the way in. The connection is solid, it just seems like it should connect in further. But then this is the first A/V adapter that I've bought, so maybe they are all like this.

Slide 3.5mm plug into the adaptor's 3.5mm socket, then apply as much pressure as needed until the connector snaps together
I bought this (very hard to find anywhere else) audio adaptor to connect my SonyECM-MS907 condenser microphone to my mixer. However, when I tried to connect the 3.5mm microphone plug to the 3.5mm socket of the adaptor, I had the same problem others wrote about in reviews, and wasn't able to get the plug to fully seat into the adaptor's 3.5mm socket. It slid in without any friction and slipped out just as easily. I even emailed the company to complain about it and ask for an RMA to return it. They sent a prompt email reply, but in the meantime I tried the connector one more time. This time I went against my better judgment and applied much more force than I thought was safe to apply without breaking the adaptor, and it went in the rest of the way securely locking the microphone connector to the adaptor. The secret is to gently push it in as far as it will go and then apply as much pressure as needed until the connectors snap together. I hope you have found this helpful.

Not quite what I wanted
The unit performs like it says it would but a schematic or pin connector layout might have been beneficial. It does not electrically connect a PC microphone to the sound board properly. It seems that PC mics need only 5 volts dc and my sound sound board sends out 48 volts. I will not return it because a couple of resistors and a capacitor strategically placed inside the case will fix my problem. I gave it the 4 stars because of its price and size to make everything neat on my sound board.

It works, but look elsewhere if connecting a wired gaming headset to a mixer.
5 stars because It works, but if you are like me and trying to hook up a wired gaming headset to a mixer, you don't want this. I nabbed the Rode VXLR Plus XLR to 3.5mm Female TRS Transforming Adapter instead. It lowers a mixers phantom power to what is needed by a headset and has worked great so far.

Worked like a charm
I am a DJ and have found this adapter to be very useful in hooking up my turntables to a single active (powered) speaker. It's perfect for connecting my RCA (unbalanced) master output (Red and White plugs) into the 3.5mm input of the adapter, connected to the XLR input of the speaker. Although I understand that 2 speakers is ideal for true stereo (right and left side) this setup is actually not bad if you just want to carry a monitor around to a house party or simply recording mixes at home.

Good quality, works well.
This works fine for attaching a 3.5mm mic to my Canon XA20 XLR input. I now use one of the two available inputs for a shotgun mic, and one for an omnidirectional mic.

Recommend that you power off system first
Does the job but metal shield if comes in contact with the plug will cause system damage. Recommend that you power off system first, DO NOT hot plug.

Super glue may be required
Works. Had issue with the 3.5mm jack, it held onto the head phone connector so well it pulled the jack out of the unit but a little super glue and it was good.
