Works perfectly in my A1708 macbook
Bought this to increase the storage in my macbook at a reasonable cost. Took 15 minutes total to fit it, I put in a full-sized 2280 Micron SSD and no problems. Now got 1tb of space and speeds of 2800mbps read/write, rocket fast. Insulate the SSD with tape on both sides to avoid problems

MacBook Pro A1708 Upgrade
Bought this in conjunction to a SABRENT 1TB SSD, to upgrade my MacBook. High quality product and perfect for my area of application. Great value for money and very easy to install. One thing to know is once installed this doesn’t support internet recovery, it’s very easy to follow a YouTube video and think the item is faulty. Have a quick read of the description or the slip of paper will save you a lot of time and hassle.

adapter appears to work fairly well
The fourth adapter I've bought to use with Sabrent SSD, best so far, read and write speeds comparable with original Apple ssd, computer temperature stays low, and boots up while plugged in to charger, seems to go into sleep mode ok, all these issues have been there on other adapters. Only issue now is crashing when computer restarts, not sure if this is the ssd or the adapter.

Used to hold new 1TB drive on MacBook A1708
Bought in conjunction with a SABRENT 2242 M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB drive, to upgrade my MacBook A1708. Drive slotted in perfectly and then the two bits were easy to put into the Mac. Then it’s just a question of reinstalling the OS version you last did your backup on, then use time machine to get your Mac just like it was.

Working well so far.

Didn’t work
It was hit and miss. I got excited when at the 2nd attempt it was recognised by my MacBook Pro 2017. Then it stopped loading the Mac OS and eventually went back to square one by not being recognised by my MacBook. Returned to Amazon for a refund.

Nice plastic case, antistatic bag, well-made adapter, fast delivery
Came in 10 days. I bought this adapted because my SSD in MacBook pro A1708 mid-2017 died. I have bought sabrent ssd nvme m.2 1TB 2242 and it works with this adapter flawlessly. Adapter came in great condition. It is well-made adapter with great soldering and PCB. I can recommend it. It came with screws and bracket for 30 mm m.2 ssd. There is no screwdriver, make sure you have some small philips screwdriver laying around. This adapted only works on model A1708 so make sure which model is your MacBook before purchasing.

I've just installed this adapter in my 2017 Function-key MBP using a 1 TB NVMe drive, to replace a failing 256 GB original SSD. My choice of drive is a Sabrent 2242 drive which is double-sided and fits just fine. I appreciate that a small set of instructions are included to ensure that the minimum OS of 10.14/MacOs Mojave is installed, and to encourage the use of Time Machine as a backup first. From a setup perspective, I did not know I had to format the NVMe to a GUID Partition to be able to install MacOs on it, but that's easy to look into once you know about it. There are known issues with these adapters (slower startup time from shutdown, higher battery use compared to the original SSD when in sleep mode). The first issue isn't too noticeable and is not a detractor for me, but software online is available to solve the second. In terms of performance (that's more the NVMe drive rather than the adapter itself though) in benchmarks I am seeing better read performance overall (~14%) and slightly worse write performance (~4%). I've only had this adapter in my laptop less than a day, but the preliminary experience is as I expected. If anything comes up in the future that's a problem with the adapter, I'll try to update the review.

Works great on the MacBookPro 2017, put in a small 2230 size ssd, speed is great. Original apple model does not work with all the MBP models. This adapter worked where the "original" was not seen. A bit tall, sanded the sharp M.2 plastic edges. Also the motherboard is flexible in that area so the bottom cover touches a bit the M.2 socket but no big deal.

Bought a brand new Sabrent 512Gb NVMe PCIeM.2 2242 SSD and used it with the adpater. So far the SSD is not being recognised. No way to contact the seller so posting here hoping for a solution or returning it EDIT: Never heard from the seller, but a local IT shop helped me. Depending on the system of MacOS you are running, the drive is not detected and you need to boot in target mode and have the drive formatted before being able to boot on it
