Wow! Pictures DO NOT truly reflect how beautiful this piece is. The leather is very impressive in an understated way. The stitching and leather trimming are very neat and straight and look better in person. I describe the color as a dark rich burgundy, not too red, almost more dark brownish. Light reflection in the pictures makes the leather look a bit shiny, but the surface has very low sheen and has a super soft and smooth feel. Because the leather is so thick, and is so natural in appearance, it has a bit of a rugged and maybe rustic look. And yet it is so well made it would look awesome in even the most formal settings. I meet with contractors on job sites and architects in the most beautiful offices, and I will proudly carry this piece anywhere. It feels quite substantial and of excellent quality in my hands. There was no imprinting of any kind inside or out on the piece I received. If you are hesitant about the value, price vs quality, go for it! This item gets my highest recommendation. I LOVE it!

I bought this for my son's birthday and he loves it. He told me that EVERYONE at his office likes it and are amazed that it is real leather.

Remember that this is memo size. Not 8 1/2 x 11. Great folder. Right at 6/32" thick per side. Nice stitching. Good leather.
