As a catch &release bass/catfish hobbyist, I decided to try these out as a solution to both the annoying "Bass Thumb" and as a way to humanely weigh my fish. I just didn't feel right puncturing ANOTHER hole in a fish's mouth just so I could get a weight on 'em. I also did not want to ever risk damaging a fish's gills by hooking them around the gill plate either.Now that I'm holding these fish grippers, I know for a fact that these are gonna last for many years to come. The lips of the gripper are much wider than others that I've owned, so I feel confident that these will cause substantially less stress on the fish compared to the metal grippers that are on the market. With such a light, durable build that includes a small hole to attach your fish scales hook to, I dont think that i will ever leave the house to fish without these in my back pocket or in my tackle box!

I've used this a bunch, and it's awesome. I do mostly freshwater fishing, fish I usually catch are up to 5-8lbs max. It's great for toothy fish like walleye and pike. Haven't had one get off once these are clamped down. They're fairly small too, which is nice. Easily fit in your pocket and very light.

This is an awesome product that will save your hands. I got this mainly for pike, but anytime I throw something with treble hooks I use these. They keep my hands safe, and make unhooking fish a lot easier.I original purchased the full size version of the fish grips, but issues using them on some small pike and bass. These fish grips are small enough to handle the little fish, but strong enough for the monsters.

Nice grips, small but useful. I've used it on walleye up to 18" and a 16.5" channel cat. I think 5 of the guys in our group use them, makes it easier to remove the hooks and also to measure the length by holding the fish in place. It also keeps teeth out of your fingers. It seems to be well built, we borrowed one for a week this summer. I liked it enough to get my own.

I've been using the regular sized grip for years and love it. This Jr size is built just as tough and will handle just about anything I'll need it for. I fish FL inshore flats and see no issue with using this on big Redfish, Trout, or Snook. I put them on a retractable carabiner style holder, clip that to my belt and put the grip right in my front pocket so it's always available and easy to reach.

who buys something, uses it extensively, only to return it all galled up stained red and smelling super fishy in the original packaging...? no problem with the company they make nice grips in the usa, but amazon should do it right the first time.
