HELL,WHY NOT?
So Steven Smith Collins takes over from Doug Bradley, which is never going to be popular, but to be fair he does a good job.The story goes that parents get together in memory of their sons that went missing a year ago,we learn the sons got involved in the box and it's power.Well inbetween bits and peices of story,we see one of the sons return, looking terrified, telling of how he has escaped from the cenobites. The boys procured the box in mexico, thanks to a strange guy offering it. They wonder what it does, one of them goes weird and kills and as this is all happening we keep going back to the story of the parents (and sister of one of the boys),we start putting the puzzle peices together and find out exactly what is going on,with twists and turns along the gory way.So that's the synopsis, but is it worth it without the same pinhead i hear you ask,i'd say it is,but you do have to accept a different version of a much loved villain. Smith does do a great job of playing the evil Pinhead, but it isn't the same and takes some getting used to,i did appreciate his work though and have no problem with him trying another sequel, but many fans i'm sure won't be up for this.I would say it's easily one of the best sequels for some time, even though some of the acting isn't great. As a bonus you get more Pinhead and the cenobites than in other sequels, plus they look great. I am disappointed Bradley wasn't Pinhead, but i would say i'd be happy to watch another sequel if it's done this well. That is,or course, just an opinion.

Pleasant Surprise
My wife is a huge Hellraiser and Clive Barker fan. She has seen all of the Hellraiser movies (nine of the bloody things!) and I have had the dubious pleasure of sitting through them with her. Most of them are terrible and I had heard nothing but terrible things about this one. Like it being so bad that even Doug Bradley didn't want to be a part of it.So it was a very pleasant surprise to find that it wasn't all that bad. Certainly the best Hellraiser in a good long while. The story is not great, the characters are hilariously cheesy and just in general it is full of silly B-Movie moments but we all know what you want here. You want a load of icky gore and grossness and this movie delivers a lot of it.So if you are here for the blood and guts and you like a bit of B-Movie nonsense then you will probably enjoy this.

A Hellbound Turkey!!
There is something off, something lacking and not quite right about this movie, besides the fact it looks and feels like a cheaply made soap opera. I'm not sure how and if there was Producer tampering in Hellraiser: Revelations (I'm guessing there was), as otherwise it has to be put simply that the script, direction, and acting are terrible...The previous films to this one all have varying quality thresholds - Clive Barker's original Hellraiser is and always will be the best, it is superlative in itself, and as a high-water-mark horror film - but each of its following sequels still brought something new to the table, certain different interesting little quirks and positives (Revelations makes the previous worst installment, Hellraiser: Hellworld look like Citizen Kane in contrast!)It seems that Doug Bradley, inhabiting the role of the lead Cenobite (Pinhead, AKA The Archduke of Hell), really was the overall deciding factor (a guaranteed positive) in the series prior to this, in that the other films (even the lesser ones in that set of films) were cohesive, and positively stand up even with their various flaws and imperfections. Well, Bradley had bowed out of the role by this sorry installment, and there is next to nothing in this film to even recommend it if you are a fan of the series so far. Seriously, just go straight to Hellraiser; Judgement - it doesn't have Bradley, but the actor in that film does a fine job emulating Bradley's Pinhead, and it is a fine film. The actor who plays Pinhead in this film, he lacks the poise, the gravitas, the stoic but deadly menace of Bradley's Archduke. The version of Pinhead in Revelations pulls strange overblown facial expressions, with goggle-eyes, nodding his head all over the place, is at times shrill (also lacking the vocal treatment that we associate with Bradley's Pinhead) and looks like he's been knocking back the beers and let himself go a bit. It is a blessing that this is his one and only time as Pinhead, cos he just doesn't seem to have got the character at all in any way shape or form, or even to have seen Doug Bradley's (definitive) portrayals.Let's hope that the current reboot of Hellraiser (as of 2022) is not the next nadir to this series.... But then nothing can be as bad as this film, surely,

not bad at all
every "hellraiser fan" was going on as to how bad this movie is but I enjoyed it and once you get your head round it not being doug,it's actually quite a good movie. Stepping into dougs shoes is a very hard thing to do,the genius that he is,but this guy is quite good and it's bad to hear everyone slagging him off. A good, twisted horror movie, not a huge budget obviously but still well worth watching. Apparently the profits from this is going towards the hellraiser remake which HAS to have doug, please god : )

Plays perfectly
Just a heads up, this movie is FN horrible. Hellraiser is my all time favorite franchise out there, but this is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. Wasted over an hour of my life on this and can never get it back. Don’t make the same mistake.

Why you should love this movie with a grain of salt
Before posting this review I read almost all the 1 and 2 star reviews...and I noticed that 85 percent of them were posted before the movie was even released. The rest Just said "No Doug Bradley as Pinhead Equals a Horrible movie."I can't believe Amazon Allows People who positively Never saw the movie to ruin it's reputation. This was never released in theaters. Their was no way you could watch it until the disk was in your hand. Not fair.I have a lot of love and a little hate for this movie. I will be honest it had flaws. But first lets go over all the positives.1) Story was captivating and had a lot of good twists to add a wow factor. Story 4.5 Stars.2) All the "HUMAN" Actors were very good in their roles. I honestly have never seen any of these actors before, but they came off seasoned rather than straight from acting 101. Acting 4 Stars.3) Female version of Chatterer Cenobite - A great BonusNow here are the negatives.Sadly No Doug Bradley. (Something All the Haters use to trash this movie)But You Need to Realize that Doug Bradley Has Repeatedly Told Interviewers and fans HE was the one who turned down the Role when they told him the budget and time constraints of the production.Sad also is because this was low budget, Pinhead Didn't look as cool. PinHead was actually acted by 2 actors (Kinda like Darth Vader only not as cool). The Voice actor was honestly bad. I did not enjoy him speaking. The actor who was visually filmed was not bad though. His facial structure was great. The problem is The makeup was poorly done compared to when Doug Bradley was Brushed up. Also in previous films with Doug... when you looked at the PINS in his head you were always like "How the hell did they get them so close." But in this movie the pin application was poor and the pins were much farther apart than normal. But again Shoe string budget.other negative were problems with the mythology and story of Hellraiser itself. The Basic Premise was great but they screwed up a few things.First and biggest...It was established in the first 2 movies Someone could come back from the dead, but only if blood came into contact with the spot they died. (1st movie was the floor and 2nd was the mattress the woman died on.In this movie someone comes back when blood is spilled in a totally different place then where they were taken by the cenobites. That's breaking the rules of the reality.Second...Who ever was in control of the scenes where the puzzle box is used didn't know their stuff. the actors were not circling their fingers in the right direction and the puzzle box opened and closed before the cenobites even arrived...twiceThird...I won't spoil who it is...but one of the main characters kinda turns into a Pinhead Jr / Pinhead LiteHe was creepy and the idea was kinda cool but I wasn't totally sold on the idea.Beside that overall this movie is greatNow considering this movie was rushed and made in like 2 weeks with only $300,000 dollars (Chump change in the movie biz)I Find this movie Deserves a Watch from every Hellraiser Fan or Fan of Good Horror.
