2016 Standard Catalog of Firearms: The Collector's Price & Reference Guide (Standard Catalog, 2016)

I think some of the prices in this Catalog of Firearms are to LOW! Example: NIB Remington 700 BDL shows $500.00. There is no place that you can buy a new in the box 700 bdl for $500.00.In the 2009 Catalog of Firearms the NIB Remington 700 BDL shows at $715.00.This just makes me wonder how accurate other prices are in the 2016 Catalog of Firearms.I have been buying these books for the past 15 years and as a reference they are great.

I buy a new one of these about every 4 years to roughly evaluate my collection's value. I also use a couple of other books. Prices very regionally and one book often doesn't agree with another but pictures do help when trying to identify guns at auctions that at times even the auction house doesn't know what it is. This book helps in some cases. There is no book comprehensive enough to cover it all.

Generally very helpful, but you need knowledge beforehand to use it. As in past editions, some of the pictures are mislabeled. But generally the strength of this book is that it shows pictures of many firearms making identification easier. Where it sometimes runs into trouble with mislabeling pictures is when there are multiple models of the same gun, such as with the Winchester 1885 Single Shot.

I get this catalog every year for my father for Christmas and have gotten it for him for the last 8-9 years. This year, however, a couple of pages fell out when he first opened it. It's a big book but pages shouldn't fall out when you first open it. I was disappointed about that. However, it's a very informative book for avid gun collectors.

It would be impossible for the "2016 Standard Catalog of Firearms" to have ALL possible makes and models of firearms but the book has good representative examples.

It is very comprehensive and the pics and descriptions are a real help in correctly identifying models.

Great great book but some of the prices are a little inaccurate but gives a very good general idea

This catalog of firearms is excellent. It certainly is a very comprehensive guide to firearm values.I highly recommend it to anyone who is buying or selling firearms.

I have had 2 previous editions of these catalogs (2000 & 2010). The 2016 is the poorest one of these editions. The model index is terrible to find specific models within a manufacturer. The model index in the older catalogs list models in order by model year and/or model number The 2016 catalog is all over the map with the model numbers/model year and only keeps page # in sequence in the index.The Winchester section for the lever actions has them scattered all over the section. Why not have all the lever actions all together and show the old / new models all in one area?Finally these catalogs never show Cooey ( A Winchester Company) rifles and shotguns or the British Lee Enfield rifles.

A lot of printing mistakes in the book.
