Best Large Collapsible Silicone Colander/Strainer with Stainless Steel Base by Chef Frog

Bought this for our RV because it was collapsible and light. Used it in my home’s kitchen and found I like it so much I’ll be ordering one for the house. It’s a bit tough to extend fully but I don’t think that’s much of an issue and it’s just right for two people and pasta.

I purchased this as a replacement of one that I'd had for over 15 years. It's perfect - easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store.

Big enough to handle the large volumes but small enough to store anywhere!

EDIT: As you can see from my original review below, I loved this strainer and it worked well for me for a while. But when I opened it today, the bottom came out! I thought perhaps it had popped out and could be put back in place, but on inspection, the metal bottom was still attached to a ring of silicone, which had torn completely away from the rest of the colander. I may have used it about 20 times in the 2 years I've had it, so I'm very unhappy with it's durability. I'm also worried about the one I gave as a gift! Original Review: I've wanted a collapsible colander for ages but wouldn't pay what they cost. I thought this price was very reasonable and the product has worked perfectly every time. I was concerned that using silicone to strain hamburger meat would be a clean-up issue, but it came out of the dishwasher good as new.

I’d give this a 3.5 if I could- it’s a good item but for some reason it’s kind of tough to pop up the very last ring unless there is something heavy in it which is kind of annoying (but really not a huge deal). The other thing that is an issue is the little rubber rings that go inside the side handles where you hold (that are supposed to help make it so when you pick the colander up it doesn’t burn you), pop out really easy. So, a couple times the silicone ring wasn’t sitting right in the hole and I didn’t notice, so when I picked up up the collander, I wound up picking it up by the bare metal, with hot food in it and that’s no fun. It didn’t leave a lasting mark but did give me a nice little burn for a couple minutes. But now that I know it happens, I’m more aware and cautious to make sure the rings are snugly in the right place. Overall, I still totally suggest this item: for the price and for what you do with it, it’s a great space saver and feels sturdier than I was anticipating. Good buy overall.

This is a really good alternative to a full-sized colander if you are concerned about space. We use this on our boat and it's sturdy when opened to the halfway point (about 4-5 cups) or fully extended (about 8-9 cups). The edge and the bottom are stainless steel and good quality. The small handles even have a silicon insert that keeps cool. It folds flat to one-inch deep. It is about 11" wide at the handles so I slide it next to our pans in the cupboard and it takes up virtually no space at all. I am ordering another one for our friend's boat.BTW, I ordered this on Amazon and paid full price. The reviewer who gave it one star seems to be mad about business, not the colander.

This was probably one of the best 'adult' purchases that I've made. I was more excited about getting this colander than I was to get the shoes I bought at the same time. It's super convenient, easy to clean, use, and store, and matches the green/blue of everything in my kitchen. I originally had a plastic colander that started cracking at the bottom from the heat, so I was too happy to throw that one out when I got this one. The only downside is that if you're a little too aggressive with the cleaning, the silicone pieces in the handles might come out, but they're easily put back in and for such a great product it's easily overlooked.

Product was great till it tore at the seam. Would not recommend this item. Sent message to vendor with no reply. Save your money!!

Smaller than I wanted plus metal is of lower quality and I fear won't last. Also rubber covering for handle opening keeps falling off. It's o.k. but not a good value for the money. However, since it is so small, and does flatten, it's a dream to store.

I think this has to be the best Colinder I have ever had, it is so easy to use, clean and store. If your looking to by a Cylinder BUY THIS ONE 👍 I'm giving it 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ to the seller because it arrived quickly too.

Bought as a Christmas present my who wife really likes it. Particularly the way it collapses which takes up less space and unlike some other cheaper versions there are drain holes up the whole side of colander not just at bottom
