The Spice Bible: Essential Information and More Than 250 Recipes Using Spices, Spice Mixes, and Spice Pastes Paperback – May 1, 2008

This is a newly acquired book, thus I have not prepared any of the recipes yet, but look very forward to doing so. I have looked through the book and read about quite a few of the spices, and found it to be very interesting.

The spice Bible is a very good general source of information for spices. There is a nice section included the offers recipes for different types of spice mixtures or curries. In all honesty the reason I gave this book 4 stars was based on two issues. First it would've been nice to have had this book made in hardback. Second in all honesty this book doesn't really offer anything that I can say is a distinctive difference that sets aside from other reference books. I can find the same information found in this book and other books such as “Herbs and Spices: the Cook's reference” or even “The Illustrated Cook's Book of Ingredients”. This is not to say that this book is poorly written or does not offer quality information. This is more to say that if you own another reference book you may find this book providing the same information that you already have.

I am very happy with the book I bought from amazon.com I had been looking for this book for quite a while and was unable to buy it from any bookstore. I was able to purchase this book from another book seller online but it was three times dearer than purchasing it from amazon.comI purchased the book second hand and it was in pristine condition. In future I will return to this online bookshop first for any other book purchases I make. The book arrived in the specific time frame that I was notified of and I have been using ever since.Thank youMaree Moroney

Easy read with detailed info about spices.

This is a great book. Informative background information about each spice and spice/herb blend. Very unique and interesting recipes from all parts of the world. I did not realize that so many cultures use the same spices. I highly recommend it for all cooks whether they are beginners or experts.

I own a spice store and use this book all the time. It really is a good resource and helps imensely when I get stumped about a spice related subject. It is a good buy.
