Man O'War

A story well told of a hero to honor
I read this book as a young boy of 12 living in Lexington, Ky; and for months afterwards I tried to emulate the proud gallop of Man O' War.Now, as a man of 66 years of age I'm still inspired with courage from this beautiful telling of such a magnificent champion: inspired to be bold, inspired to be a champion.

Man O' War
A great documentary novel about a great stallion, who track records without ever showing his full stamina and blinding speed. His legacy lives on.

A horse for the ages!
I had read this book when I was probably 8 years old. It’s just as exciting as it was then. This was the story that stirred my lifelong love of horses. I’m passing it along to my preteen granddaughter, who loves horses too.

For the love of a horse.
I have always loved Walter Farley. As a youngster, read every book he wrote. The movie that was made out of his book "The Black Stallion" is still one of cinematography's very best. Creating a fictional character that becomes totally enmeshed in the great horses life makes a great story. Farley's creation of life on the race course is well founded and realistic. His characters are strong individuals and drawn with a fine pen. Looking back like this, makes me wonder again what a race between Man O' War and Secretariat on a modern track, would have looked like! I also never knew how Big Red was handed the name Man O' War so Farley lets you know. This is a good book not only because its a well written story but is also a bit of our history at a bleak time. If Farley was alive today, I wold still read anything he wrote as he writes simply and from the heart. Kind of a slow down in our busy world.

Best horse ever throughout history.
I loved this book could hardly put it down till I finished it. Rated it 5 stars because of the great writing and realism throughout the whole book. This horse was truly a super horse even though he had many challenges as a youngster but he was strong enough to overcome them. I wish I had been able to see Man O'War when he was alive that would have been the most special time in my life. 😊

STILL A GOOD READ!!
I read this book in school as a child and wanted to re-read it. i didn't find it as "amazing" as I did at a young school aged child, but still enjoyed the book and found the story very enjoyable.

Man O'War.
A book I found very like some other racing autobiographies such as Secretariat, Ruffian and Sea Biscuit. However I persevered and eventually got into it. It took me a while to get right the way through it though.

Delivery good.
An interesting story to the life of this legendary horse. Seen from the perspective of someone who knew the horse from birth.
