Revenge that transcends time and space
I have read a few John Saul's in the past but this one was a bit different, it went deeper into the psyche of the characters he created making their grief and pain so much more realistic. The atmosphere surrounding this scary and thrilling novel was quite good, in fact it was one of the most realistic parts and I felt the salty breeze, saw the sandy dunes and the sea grass sprouting near the Pendleton house. It stood right over the cliffs near the cemetery in the quaint town of Paradise Point. It seemed to be the perfect spot for a growing family from Boston, the Pendletons with a new baby on the way and their young daughter Michelle found it charming but not for long. Taking over the town clinic wasn't as easy as Cal Pendleton thought, he was still scared from losing his young patient who happened to fall of the roof of his new house when strange things have started happening to his adopted daughter Michelle. Tragedy starts to follow all the family members when a force that seems to be from beyond the grave takes over their lives and starts to ruin whatever future they were hoping to build for themselves.Anger, pain and plenty of kid bullying were in my face and really tugged at my heart when I read it, overall it was a fast and interesting read with an edge of dark sadness and a bit of a small town mystery that made it shine. The character buildup and the slow dread coming into play made for a really enticing read, I kept worrying about my favorites the whole time while some nasty and creepy "accidents" kept plaguing the story that lead to a dramatic and intense finish. Looking back at Michelle it made me realize that if someone is different and appears weak, they can grow up to be what the society labels them instead of who they really are, there is a tale of things going wrong when social pressures and games push a young delicate soul over the edge.- Kasia S.

Read this as a child.
This was one of the first "real" books I read, my intro to the horror/thriller genre. It sparked a long love life of reading. I have now downloaded the same book I carried dog eared on the school bus and back of my parents car in ebook format to my daughter's tablets.I remember finding this book on my grandfather's book shelf on summer vacation to my grandparents house when I was about 9 years old. The weather was hot and I needed something to do in the a.c. and at the pool. The cover caught my eye and the story my attention. I read that book everywhere, all the way back in the car on the 2 day drive home, under the covers at night with a flashlight after lights out, and hidden behind my school books in class. I must have reread it over 7 times before moving on to other John Saul books. I think I will give it a reread this summer, relive the nostalgia of horror.

Very dark and creepy!
I read this book years ago when I was pretty young, maybe junior high. Scared me pretty good! I revisited it now in my 40s and found it more creepy than scary, but still an excellent read, although I did feel a little sad at the ending, having more awareness in my old age! It is very dark and I enjoy the "family curse" aspect of his books. I immediately downloaded "Suffer the Children", another great book by Saul, but found the books to be so dark I need to take some time before I read another one.

Good book
I had read this book when I was 12 and wanted to touch on it again. The book itself I thought would be a hard cover, it wasnt so not sure why I paid that price. The book I actually received was barely legible, letters consistently were missing and in general, really bad shape. Pretty disappointing. I won't order from here again. I wanted and paid for a hard copy, not this falling apart, can't read paper back. List what you actually HAVE. NOT WHAT YOU WANT OTHERS TO BELIEVE YOU HAVE!

Another good story
Although this one is not a favorite, it is still a story filled with John Saul's typical twists and turns and kept me reading late into the night.

Fantastic
This was written in 1980! Wow! And despite it's age, it's still an amazing read. It's traditionally written, which means it's written properly, unlike a lot of the modern books these days. It's a very engaging story. I don't understand the adolescent comments. Sure, there is a 12yr old character, but we're also able to see inside the minds of everyone and I think this book is suitable for a wide audience, as a lot of books were back in the day. I couldn't put this down. I can't wait to read another one of John's books.

Interesting story, although seems as if it should be aimed towards an adolescent age group
Interesting idea for a story, executed fairly well despite being written very simply - athough much of the story is from the 12 year old's perspective. A few issues with the family interactions and attitudes - not sure it was sufficiently explored. Ending wasn't bad, I thought it fit the story and left you feeling a little bit satisfied . Worth a read if you don't want anything challenging.

Saul never disappoints
Using the angst of puberty to shape his characters, John Saul's novels use a parent's fears to round out superbly told stories that make it nearly impossible to put the book down once you've started reading it.

More suitable for adolescent females.
After reading two or thee chapters of "Come the Blind Fury" by john Saul it appeared to me that this book was written for an audience of predominately adolescent females. As id not fall within this category I decided no to continue rading it.

Classic 80s horror
I'll give this a 4 for nostalgia's sake. I think if I had read it in the 1980s I would have been blown away, but horror has become a lot more succinct and hard hitting in recent years, so it feels rather dated. The premise is good, supernatural vengeance, but it dragged on for too long. You could easily cut a third from this book and not lose anything, it would probably make it more edgy and make the reader more disconcerted. There were sections of the novel where I had to force myself on saying, 'yes, I know, here is another example of the ghostly manipulation of a little girl that ends in death and people are starting to become suspicious...let's get on with it.'If you really like John Saul and 80s horror, it is worth the read, but if you're after something fast and scary, skip it.
