Works great!
I bought this tool for my very first leather project and it works just as expected. It is easy to use and creates neat grooves. It was also nice to be able to adjust the groove distance.

Great tool
I had a cheap version of this tool and it was horrible so I bought this and the difference was astounding.

Works very well
Works very well. Item is right handed only and not interchangeable. Cutter easily adjusts in and out with a small flat head screw driver.

Great tool for stitch lines and borders!
I bought this to be able to add easy to follow stitching lines and it works great for that. But I also found I could use it to score edges of thinner weight leathers that I couldn’t wet mold. It’s enough to give a bit of flexibility without compromising the integrity of the leather. It’s also great for borders! If it ever wears out, I’ll get another just like it!

Smooth
I've only had it for a little while but so far no complaints

Get the Pro version. This one is brutal.
If you are stuck with Tandyget the Tandy Leather Craftool Pro Stitching Groover Set 88081-00This one is sloppy. The cutter gets clogged instantly and the large round guide is to large. Get one where the guide can extend farther.

Good beginner tool
I bought this adjustable groover as an entry into leatherworking and I find it adequate for a beginner. However, over time I have gotten frustrated with its usage and am looking for alternatives. Depending on your needs a groover may or may not be required. The groover is used to carve a channel into your leather so that when you sew the thread can sit within this channel, which protects the thread from abrasion. Under most circumstances, your leather goods would probably experience enough of these rougher environments for this to matter. By creating a groove in which the thread can now sit, your stitches will be straighter thus preventing the aesthetically pleasing saddle stitch that many in leatherworking strive to achieve. After I discovered this, I have largely stopped using the groover as I did not find any changes in the durability of the stitch itself. As for the design of the groover itself, I found it a bit hard to work with because the actual cutting mechanism is not in line with the handle. Instead the guide the lines up with the edge of the leather is in line with the handle and thus it is a little hard to control the groover itself as you cannot directly apply pressure to it. I would recommend buying a groover where the cutting portion is in line withe the shaft and the guide is off to the side. The groover distance can also be adjusted to different widths using a small screwdriver included with the kit.Overall, I would recommend you try it out to see if it works in your set up, but it is far from required for leatherworking and may not actually needed for your purposes.
