Great alternative to glass or steel presses!
This is a really nice french press! It is not without some flaws, but overall, it's a nice design. Until my beloved Bunn single-cup brewer started having valve issues, I hadn't used a french press except while camping. That said, I do love the simplicity of a french press for making coffee -- it makes a wonderful cup! Prior to purchasing this press, I was using a glass one that had a plunger that could be disassembled for cleaning. If I could complain about anything with this press, it is the plunger assembly. Even coarse grinds work their way in between the mesh and the metal frame that the mesh filter is wrapped to. It takes some clever scrubbing with a brush to work these grinds out, but once I do, everything's fine. The plunger assembly is rather flimsy feeling, but so far after almost a week of use, it seems to be holding up better than expected. I have yet to find a grind of coffee in my cup. I press the plunger down very slowly, even if there isn't a lot of resistance along the way.I love the ceramic portion of this press. It's beautiful (white and all), and most importantly, it does a phenomenal job of keeping my coffee warmer than my glass press. I drink 2 small (10-12 ounce) cups of coffee every morning, and with my glass press, my second cup was always barely lukewarm. With this press, it's still nicely warm (not hot), which is perfect because I drink my coffee black.I wish the lid of this unit was something other than plastic, but it does the job. The rubber ring on the bottom of the press is a very nice, thoughtful touch (sometimes too nice -- it's hard to spin this thing around on the table without picking it up!).Pros: Ceramic holds heat really well, and makes for a thick, sturdy device that looks beautiful & functions well. Holds a nice amount of coffee (good for larger amounts and smaller).Cons: Plunger/filter assembly design needs some thought. It's hard to get all of the grinds that work their way in between the mesh & the metal frame on the bottom. Lid fit is loose, but still functions perfectly. All in all, I like this press a lot and am now using it daily!

High Quality Beaker, Lower Quality Lid and Strainer
New update, I just read that glazed ceramic leaches lead at 80 degrees. There is nothing that says this ceramic is lead free. Since it is used with boiled water, I am very concerned. However, the manufacturer answered my question, and confirmed that this is lead free! Whew. The following is my original review: This French Press keeps coffee hot for quite awhile unlike the glass ones. I was tired of having to microwave my coffee cup. The weight of the beaker is just right, not too heavy but heavy enough to stay well balanced and has a nice feel. It is slim and attractive looking. The rubber rimmed bottom is another plus, you don't have to put the hot bottom directly on a counter or table and don't need a trivet. The lid fit is a bit loose and cheep thin plaster. The metal plunger/strainer is also flimsy compared to some others I have had, but it does work. The lid and plunger on my old glass french press fits this one perfectly and the old french press lid actually fits more securely and t has a grated pour area, which this new one does not. I think the lid and plunger are not up to the high quality feel of the beaker itself which is a shame. I love making my coffee in a french press but my chief complaint was that the coffee does not stay hot and the glass beakers break easily. I am enjoying this lovely press which is an attractive addition to my kitchen.

Very nice french press.
The plunger doesn't strain very well, and I end up with bits of coffee grounds in the coffee. I do love the carafe. I love the style of it. It is very pretty sitting on the counter. I also love the rubber bottom. I think it is smart to have a rubber bottom on this product, because I am clumsy and if I set it down too hard without a rubber bottom it would break. This french press is fairly easy to clean. I gave 4 stars because of the plunger not doing a very good job. You had one job plunger! Overall, I like this french press more than the glass and stainless steel one that I have because with the glass one it always looks gross. Coffee stains the glass, and it must be scrubbed often and I mean scrubbed. This french press wipes clean very easily with some warm water and a little soap.

Great, stylish french press. Delicious coffee!
I really like this press! I have a stainless steel press as well but I don't like it because it gives the coffee the flavor of the stainless. I also have a glass press that I liked but the glass cracked and this one was the one I purchased to replace it. I am very happy with it and the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the plunger is flimsy. This product would be perfect if it had a better quality plunger and lid. The plunger is functional I just like a more quality feel. I ended up using the plunger from my glass press that broke and it fits. Overall, I am very happy with the press and it was a great price.

I purchased this item earlier this year but finally got around to using it and am not all that impressed. The ceramic container is of excellent quality and holds the liquid cold or hot for a very long time. I really like this. However, the pressing instrument does not fit that well inside the ceramic, which does not build much pressure to press the coffee and lets quite a bit of grounds into the actually coffee. I'm not sure if I just have a bad one or what, but it is not that effective.
