A MUST BUY FOR YOUR EPIC PCH JOURNEY
My husband and I recently returned from our amazing trip down the Pacific Coast Highway -- in a rented red convertible, no less! I touted this guide constantly on Facebook as I posted our travelogue, and people asked for copies of our itinerary. All of our stops were based on recommendations in this book, and it didn't disappoint! There are main route recommendations, as well as those off the beaten path. Not only did it guide us on wonderful adventure, but our notes and highlights in the book will always be a treasured part of an epic adventure! If you are planning a drive down the Pacific Coast, BUY THIS GUIDE. You won't regret it.

places to eat/sleep in an easy to use
I ordered this for my son who is taking a trip from Seattle down to San Francisco. It appeared to cover the entire west coast unlike other books that only listed specific routes. Seems to have all the info needed - sites of interest, places to eat/sleep in an easy to use, easy to read format.

This was a useful preread to guide my Google searches as I planned our trip to the Avenue of the Giants and San Francisco. There are some good tips and the sample days offer something to pick and choose from. I wouldn't use it as my only resource of course, but it was nice having maps and something to fall back on. My only suggestion would be to add more family friendly details as traveling w children and teens is a whole other monster.

Bad thrift guide. Good guide if your budget is $500/person or more per day.
I was looking for help having a good time on a budget but this guide mostly caters to the big spenders. I would think there must have been money paid to the author for the high priced hotel listings. I would guess they are nice and should be for the high prices they charge. Anyone can stay at great hotels for top dollar. You can find just as good of advice online for free and not pat the price of this guide. My trip was 14 days and would have cost $7-10,000. for my family of 4 going by this books recommendations. We spent $4,000. instead by online advice. Sorry for the bad review but these are the facts.

Perfect for planning a PCH Road trip!
I have read a lot of travel books, but this one is the best I have ever read. I want to plan a trip to drive the PCH, and the beginning of the book has a sample 21 day trip already planned out. It includes where to stop, what to see and where to stay. The following sections of the book elaborate on each of the trip segments, plus adds many more things to see and do. The maps, pictures, descriptions and layout are excellent.I bought other PCH travel books as well, but this is the only one I really needed. This is the book to buy.

I bought this guide to travel the US Pacific Coast Highway; I bought it because of the reviews; the reviews are spot on - this is an excellent guide with enough detail to ensure you have a good trip. We only had a week to travel from Seattle to San Francisco and this guide tells you what to do if you only have a short time. Of course if you see something that particularly interests you then the guide has details of that too. The maps are many and varied helping you on your way. Time and again we arrived at a particular beauty spot/point of interest needing refreshment and the guide provided us with excellent places to stop, most of which I have reviewed on TripAdvisor with 4 or 5 stars; the guide made clear any weaknesses in the restaurants/cafes so we were not disappointed once. Next trip will need a Moon Guide if the reviews are good.

Great book – reminds me a lot of Lonely Planet in tone / style / recommendations. (Bizarrely Lonely Planet don’t have a decent book on this.) Has enough detail without going too far into things. Useful – but of course the real test will be when I get there – will update this review if the book is a bum steer (confident its not!!)

Good book, forget Oregon.
We found this very useful on our road trip down the West Coast. But if anyone is thinking of the that trip, forget Oregon. You drive through hundreds of miles of forests, huge avenues of fir trees 🌲
