I’d buy it all over again!!
Really convenient. It keeps all that greasy mess from getting on my counters when I’d cook on the stove. I like the lid. It holds a lot and the fact that it comes with 1 big basket and 2 smaller ones is perfect. It does take a lot of oil. Like a lot. But that’s to be expected. Cleaning is a breeze too since you just remove the oil holder thing and wash. You don’t have to worry about holding it a certain way to not get this part wet or that part wet. It’s a perfect design.

Easy to use, perfect results!
Prior to this purchase, I hadn't used a deep fryer in about 30 years. I wanted to make fish and chips, clam cakes and dough boys (fried dough) for my family and then for a summer party later on. Though I was a bit apprehensive, I purchased two units for this purpose. Well, I found the Secura 4.2L/17 Cup, 1700-Watt Stainless Steal Deep Fryer to be an excellent product. It was easy to use, easy to clean, and the cooking results were perfect every time! I am really happy to post this review. What I found to be the best characteristics are as follows: 1) The Baskets - I can fry two different foods in smaller quantities using the two small baskets or make a larger quantity of fries, etc in the single basket. Being able to wash the stainless steal baskets in the top of the dishwasher makes them easy to clean too. 2) Cover -The filter in the top of the cover, really works to control the smell of frying. The large handle makes the cover easy to remove and replace as needed. 3) Controls - Easy to see, easy to set, and having to use the timer provides some security that you won't leave the unit on accidentally. 4) Though other fryers have built in filtering/draining systems, I honestly found that pouring the used oil back in the bottle simple to do. The part that holds the oil is light weight and lifts off the unit easily. I then pour the oil through a strainer over a funnel back into the bottle. It's a snap! 5) RESULTS - every thing I have made in these fryers has cooked perfectly. I really love this fryer and highly recommend it.

Very good fryer but the size was too big for my little kitchen. I did not have enough space

1000 Ways to 'fry'
The Secura Deep Fryer is designed near identical to one Presto makes called the ProFryer. The fryer is absolutely perfect for any home cook. This deep fryer means business, I cook for large groups of friends and family each week and my Fry Daddy just was not cutting it. The amount of time I save cooking in the Secura vs the Fry Daddy is substantial. I am able to use the large basket to make a huge batch of fries, okra, and chicken. The secura also holds a lot more cooking oil than my previous fryer and heats the oil much faster and more evenly. The timer is a nice feature especially when I am cooking chicken breasts, it's very nice to know how long an item has been cooking for without having to reach for my microwave timer feature. The Secura gives you 3 different basket sizes (2 small and 1 large basket). For me the large basket is perfect for what I do, but it is very nice to have the extra 2 small ones in case you are frying different items at the same time. The only bad thing I can say about this model is that the magnetic plug for some reason loves to come unplugged and that may be that I bump it when I am loading the basket, it's definitively not a deal breaker for me because it plugs in so easily. The Secura is a very straightforward device to use, plug it in, set the timer and wait 5 minutes for your oil to heat up. The Secura even has a HEAT light which will go off when your oil is at the temperature you set to. The Secura operates up to 375 which is the ideal temperature I use for most all of my deep frying needs. Pros: Reasonably priced. Good Quality Heats up quickly. Built in timer. Heat ready indicator built in. 3 basket options. Nicely packaged. Quick Shipping. Cons: Magnetic plug for me likes to disconnect itself when bumped.

Perfectly fries chicken
I've only used this appliance one time; but it did a fantastic job of frying chicken legs. Previously, I used a cast iron skillet to fry my fish or chicken. Love cast iron; but on the stove top, you have to continuously adjust the burner settings to keep oil temperature constant. This Secura deep fryer automatically makes temperature adjustments. As I cooked, I monitored the oil temperature with an infrared thermometer. It exactly matched the dial setting throughout the cook. It knows when to turn the elements on to raise the heat. And, it has a light on the panel that confirms this process. Setting up the appliance for first use was extremely easy. I didn't even read any instructions. (not advising you to take shortcuts.) Mostly it was common sense. The heating element can be removed from pot by simply lifting the control panel straight up. Clean the appliance before first use. There are a couple of cons. The power cord is very short. (about 30 inches.) I'm guessing the manufacturer made it short for safety reasons. If the appliance should ever fall off the counter, the power cord would easily detach because it is held in place with magnetic contacts. This sucks if you have 12 inch-deep cabinets that protrude over a two foot-wide counter. Putting the appliance at the very lip of your counter will still mean that the exhaust from the fryer will baste your cabinets with hot moisture. Could damage the finish of cabinet doors. I'm not advising anybody to connect an extension cord to this appliance. The manufacturer strongly says Don't. However, I do own a bunch of 10 gauge extension cords, ranging from 4 to 100 feet in length. Bought most of them from Amazon. 10 gauge is a safer wire than the 12 or 14 gauge socket you currently use. Just saying. I use my 10 gauge cords for a lot of heavy electrical drain devices such as pool pump, infrared heaters, induction cook top, welder, battery charger, log splitter, air compressor, etc. Again, not advising you to use a 10 gauge extension cord with the Secura Deep Fryer. Just saying it is the perfect length to allow me to place my deep fryer on top of my stove which has a vent fan to remove moisture and cooking odors. The next "con" involves the wire cooking basket. I suppose these wire baskets are common throughout the industry among all manufacturers. The mesh on these baskets is small. OK, insures you can fry peas or termites without items dropping from basket. Somebody please manufacture a basket that will not clog up with egg battered recipes. (half inch spaces between bars.) On your first use, I suggest you lower basket into hot oil BEFORE adding battered food. Otherwise, coating might stick to mesh basket. On my second load of chicken legs, they did not stick. In fact, drumsticks floated as they neared completion. Don't overload basket. Fried foods need lots of space between portions. Unlike competitors, the Secura will quickly reheat for the next batch. My oil was ready before I finished coating the next round. In summary, the Secura 4litre deep fryer is a great first buy for the typical consumer. Very affordable. Cooks perfectly. Heats oil quickly, and maintains desired temperature. As an Amazon customer, you know you can return any defective purchase, so don't put too much weight on those one-star ratings. By the way, large chicken drumsticks (twice battered) were done in about 14 minutes. Many foods will probably require less time. There is a glass port that allows you to see when food is floating. This is when you need to remove cover and check doneness with a food thermometer. YouTube is a great source for deep fryer recipes.

We have had this for about 10 years still working great. Need to keep the electrical contacts between the cord and the fryer clean or they heat up and slow down the cooking. I like that it is magnetic but that is the one quibble with it.

Gone through a number of deep fryers over the years and until this one, I had favored another popular brand and thought that was the best. This one tops it in performance and quality all day long! It is able to maintain the set temperature better than any other household fryer I have ever owned! With useful safety features like a timer that shuts off fryer when time runs out and the usual breakaway cord, as well as replaceable filter on the lid to help screen out strong odors, this one is tops! AND THE SIZE - 4L capacity and being able to cook 2 foods at once with 2 baskets (or a large quantity of one item using third large basket), this is awesome! Cooking for a picky family on a day we decide to do fried foods, I often find myself cooking up 4, 5 or more different things between nuggets, fries, hashbrowns, battered fish, cheese sticks, etc. - and with other models it took forever with only one frying basket or smaller capacity - now cooking is done in under 10 minutes for the same variety of items for the whole family - definitely never going back to a single-basket fryer again! Disassembly for cleaning is incredibly easy, so that's a bonus too!
