really good tempeh
This is just about the best tempeh one can get, and healthy, not full of chemicals. My only frustration is that I had to order three large sheets at once from Amazon. I live in a sort of food desert (American south) and grocery stores don't have any kind of tempeh at all, but if they did, it would be the kind full of added substances. This product is pure, and it's worth getting 3 large 10" sheets at time rather than not have it. Sometimes, there is just nothing as satisfying for a vegan and some really good tempeh. As with all tempeh, boil it 25 minutes before using in your recipe. It's delicious!

versatile, easy to prepare, takes on other flavors and seasonings
At $0.45 per ounce, it is a good bargain as an online purchase. I can get it for about the same at one of my grocery stores, but I dont get out to the one all that often and I wanted some tempeh now. I prefer the varieties that include grains in with the soy, but I rarely find that these days. This is just soy.I love the large slabs of tempeh. There are 4 all together. So at 2 lbs a piece, that is 8 lbs total.Looks good. Any dark spots are part of the fermentation (as noted on packaging and in product description).Neutral flavor that picks up other flavors. I usually slice it thin then lightly fry it. I add whatever seasoning or sauces I want. Could be crumbled up, but I really want my tempeh whole. Take a look around for recipes that use tempeh or how to flavor it. Can eat it plain, but it tastes pretty plain. Again, it takes on other flavors easily enough.I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I do incorporate more plant based foods into my life. Plant based is NOT another term for vegan or vegetaria, though it has been adopted as such. It was originally coined to mean diets or meals to have a more plant based focus. Yet the diet can still include meat, dairy, etc. Just wont be the focus of every meal. Since I love all things vegetable and enjoy the variety of meals that can be created with plant based focus, I have leaned toward vegan and vegetarian recipes over the years. I have adored tempeh for decades, again preferring the ones that also add in grains, but I very much like the plain ole soy tempeh like this.Nice meaty mouth feel. Very dense, but easy chew.I knock off a star because the "best by" date is just 3 months away. Not sure if this is the norm, or I just got older product. In my expeirence tempeh lasts a crazy long time well beyond the best by date, so I am not too worried.Arrived well packed with ice packs. Big reminder to refrigerate upon arrival. Doesnt need to be frozen, just needed to be kept cool, hence the ice packs.IngredientsCeertified organic soybeans, filtered deep well water, Rhizopus cultures.

Versatile
My dr wanted me to cut way back on meat products - something I’ve never been successful at before. I researched and discovered Tempeh. Depending on how you season it, the flavor changes making it a versatile meat replacement. Love the texture. Soooo much better than tofu or other products designed to replace meat in your diet. Lots of great recipes online (example - Tempeh bacon) to try.

Wow!
This is the best tempeh we've ever had. I was a bit worried about the volume when I ordered it, but the value is spectacular. We eat more tempeh than ever now, with no guilt on the cost. I will never go back to store-bought!

had no idea what tempeh was
Motivated to stick with a whole food plant-based nutrition plan, and tempeh has a higher nutritional load than tofu. I didn't like chunks of it, but crumbling it and using as "meat" in eggs or chili is a great way to start. I'm still getting used to the taste, but it's worth the effort.

Great value and delicious
I love tempeh but, considering the small packages and high retail prices for it, I don't have it as often as I'd like to. I was happy to discover this brand and was not disappointed. This tempeh is delicious. I like it plain with a few minutes in an air fryer to give it a bit of a crust. For maximum freshness, I cut a 2lb slab into 8 oz rectangles = 2*4 oz servings and vacuum pack each double serving. — Encouraged by Rhapsody Natural Foods' quality, I'll be trying their natto next.
