Reliable and Good Looking
Lovely brass outdoor thermometer. A little small but easy to read and mounts so you can turn it for best view. Unobtrusive. Classic. Temperature reading seems accurate. We purchased two other brands that we had to return. We have a matching one that is 20 years old and still looks and works well.

Simple (in a good way), well made
Simple (in a good way), well made, very attractive, reliable and incredibly tough. Just bought this as a Christmas gift based on the my experience with the one I bought about 15 year ago. As the new one looks exactly the same as the one I have had for years, I'm assuming it will perform the same way. My older one has endured some real weather abuse when I was living in Vermont for five years. It was exposed to severe cold, rain, snow, high winds, freezing rain, sleet, hail and just about any other severe weather one can think of. Through it all, it never failed in the slightest. And the solid brass construction only looks better with age. Very easy to mount and works perfectly when mounted to window trim. Just go to the window and find out the temp.

Disappointing operation, considering the price point
I have had this thermometer for several years now. I paid over $50 for it from a well-known online retailer's brick&mortar shop. It is very nice looking but has been disappointing in operation: the dial fluctuates by up to 3 degrees when vibrations from closing doors or windows jar it. I don't know the actual temperature until I have repeatedly closed a window near it to "set" the needle. I expected to use this thermometer to decide when to close windows to keep out heat, but it's annoying to have to settle it every time I want to know the temperature. Despite others' dismissive comments, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the German design mechanism of this piece to work accurately and easily.

Not US made
Nice classic look. Easy to read if attached to window frame. No batteries required is nice. I like low maintenance.Nice to have a calibration screw for adjusting. Time will tell if quality product.Did not like made in China. That was carefully disguised in advertising making it appear to be US made.

Just so classy looking
We put this on our dock area (by a pond). Very classy looking, not big, works great. Love that it can swivel. Easy to install.

Country elegance
I have one mounted on the casement of my kitchen windows. It is stylish and functional. I purchased another one for a quail lodge in Alabama that we frequent often. It was given to the owners as a Christmas gift. Mounting is easy and it swivels at its base and at the back of the thermometer. This gives you versatility in placing it for clear viewing.

stylish reasonably accurate but too small
In it's only 2 previous reviews it is discribed as stylish &functional" and "visable from a distance". Stylish,yes...functional, yes but not dead on accurate.Visable from a distance,yes...the numbers on it,no. I installed it 11 feet outside my window and I have to estimate the temprature based on the needle position. Out of the box it was way off but a scan of the instructions said it had to be calibrated on the back with a screwdriver.I did calibrate this instrument per the instructions...3 times! I also tapped on the glass which ,magically, raised the temprature 4 degrees. Just before I returned it , a careful re-read of the instructions revealed, but not stressed as it should be, the case must be held vertically while calibrating. Absolutely! Since then it has performed as expected, sometimes right on,sometimes a degree or two off.

Looks great, works great!
I bought one about three years ago and I peek out the window everyday and check the temperature. Never fogs up and it's accurate! When my son bought his house, I had to buy another one for his new home
