Roller is pretty firm. From the pictures I was expecting some softness or padding on the outside. It's actually straight Styrofoam like material colored black. Just don't expect any neoprene or rubber padding on the outside of this roller. Seems to work okay for me. A big plus is the size being 36 inches. I know there are some shorter foam rollers that wouldn't be as practical for some of the workouts which require the full width of your body.

Harder than I expected, even after reading all the previous reviews, but certainly serviceable for my purposes (I'm practicing Sue Hitzman's "MELT" method to reconnect, re-balance, re-hydrate, and release my neck and back). The roller is light and easy to handle, but it's hard enough that you're not likely to snooze off while lying on it. If you want the roller for muscle massage, I suggest that you get something a little bit softer.

this roller has saved my back. literally. im 5ft 10in and have always slouched over. this created a lot of problems for me over time. I bought this for like $25 and I roll on it at least twice per day. you should hear the cracks in my back. my posture is way better than ever. im working on my neck area now. this is the best investment ive ever made for my spine. but its good for a lot of other issues too and I haven't even touched on them because im so happy to have my spine straight Im 45 yrs old

Nice roller, but density too firm for me. Probably made for the younger more muscular person. I'm in good shape, but smaller & wanted a medium density, less firm. Had to return mine.

This foam roller is so hard and uncomfortable it's really difficult for me to use it. Maybe I should have gotten a softer one...

Its a little large and very firm. I would buy a slightly softer roller in the future if I had to do it again.

This roller was a little to hard for me to use. If it were a little softer it would have been perfect. I will order a softer one when I can.

The Foam Roller arrived on time as expected. I am happy with he firmness of this roller. I have tried the foam roller; which cost less and that is just what I received; less quality because it caved in over time after use. I use my roller three to four times a week and this roller will be just what I needed and it is very firm. I am very satisfied.
