What works better - fine ground or medium grind? i did fine, but it's too weak, and it's trader joe's french roast beans

Leaks into capsule holder? Foil is on tight. Sometimes it leaks out the side between the foil and rim. Losing 1 - 2 oz into capsule holder.

Has anyone had trouble with the 2-part silicone tool not turning well and sort of sticking? I returned my first one and the second one is worse.
