Could Be Better Made
Not a horrible product, but it will read a Masonite as a Diamond. I will be buying an higher quality, more expensive tester in the future.

Works properly, but difficult to handle on smaller stones.
I ordered two of these for Christmas gifts for family members who buy jewelry at garage sales and consignment shops and resell it. They wanted an easy way to discreetly test the gemstone. This does the job, as tested on an array of gemstones and jewelry that have been certified and purchased through jewelers. The problem I found, however, is that the tip of the tool must make contact with the gemstone alone, not touching the surrounding setting, for the tester to read properly, and this can be particularly challenging on smaller stones. However, I am happy overall with the item and would purchase again.

bought this as a trial
I bought this to test the diamonds when we go on a cruise, I bought some rings in Bahamas and I have been cheated before. Its not that great. very weak signal. sometimes goes off even if its a fake. very unrealiable.

excellent quality at an affordable price.
This is an absolutely terrific quality tester at a price even a weekend gem collector could use, especially at garage sales or estate sales to distinguish real diamonds to find those hidden treasures. Easy to use and fun, will pay for itself in no time at different sales distinguish king between fakes and the real thing.
