Nice box
The box is a nice box for the money. It was definitely stained just prior to shipping. I took a rag rubbed it in and set out to dry. Luckily I had ordered a head of time and was able give it plenty of time to dry. Seems okay now. It has a nice felt lining and open and closes ok.

Beautiful box, but…
I’ve had this box for 5 months and it has been great until now. The hinges aren’t the best quality, were rusty and gave out after 5 months. I replaced the hinges, but it took so long to remove the old ones, I may have been better off buying a new box 🤣. Hopefully with better quality hinges, I get more life out of this box.

Awesomeness
I love these boxes. They look better than the pic even. The craftsmanship is beautiful and the box is nice and sturdy. I highly recommend and will buy from this Amazon vendor again. I even got a little surprise of earrings of earrings in the box! How cool is that.

StarZebra Unique Artisan Handcarved Rosewood Wooden Jewelry Box From India
Now I understand why there was only two photos and at odd angles. The box itself is assembled after the pieces are cut from carved stock. So, as with mine, the "flowers" do not line up between the halves of what they are, or started out as in that part of the plant. So, that's very disappointing, if not very odd, poor looking. But, it gets worse. When I got it out of it's plastic bag, 25% of the top was, what I'll call "Blue Mold" - kind of white, maybe it was "White Mold". Under it the wood had dark spots. So, it is all very odd to me, in my experience.I build instruments and work with "Rosewood" and, well - typically one does not "color" Rosewood, or really do anything to it since it is naturally so resinous and beautiful on it's own. This is not. I used a fine wood instrument oil to wipe away the heavy particle mold and the cloth turned "red" (it's color, so, it is colored/dyed in some manner - Rosewood coloring does not wipe off! : ) ).The inside pieces are quite dry and not a "hard" wood. Rosewood is a *hard wood - and is why it is used as Fretboards on Stringed Instruments. So, this may be a color name or something (wood species) they decided to call "Rosewood"; however, it's no species of Rosewood that I am familiar with. The Lid had a hard time closing and opening since the inside "lip" is so carelessly installed. Some material will have to be removed, properly for the box to be *usable. As it came, it is not usable. It's extremely difficult to get it past the initial closing edge and there again when opening the box. Actually, that edge seem very "high" beyond the box height; and, the back strip is 4-5mm short of the other three sides, which makes no sense and looks odd too.And yes, too, both of my hinges were rusted as well, the nails which I am not sure will hold very long, especially with the tug from the tight lid.And as well - the "red felt lining" - well, it had plenty of glue dripped on it and instead of redoing it, was attempted to be wiped off and in one spot - didn't bother to do that. There is no "padding", so is minimal protection as far as that goes for items one may store within it.So, in cutting through the carved pieces to make the top/bottom sides, they are as well not cut straight. In the middle of the lid there is a large 2-3mm gap, but only on the side, not front and back. So, after I *hopefully* remediate the heavy mold spot, and scrape some material from the poorly measured lid issues and actually put some oil on it so it does not look so raw and dry, then I guess I can "gift" it.I'd do an exchange - however, based upon the other reviews I could be possibly regretting the replacement of this one. I suppose I could have ordered, like, three at one time and picked the best of the three. However, looking at the date and closeness of the holiday - well, I am a bit pressed for time and "gifts" too.So, I can't recommend this to someone. The workmanship is not "charming", it's sloppy Production Work, of "carved" stock that is production run glued together with no "fitting" as the end pieces I describe, as far as mine is concerned. I just don't get it. If one is going to cut and assemble - they can do it well, or somehow not, and then have this to offer. Same work and effort, yet, very different outcome - why do it that way?So, I had a dozen photos, but I think I have described it well enough so don't need even more work documenting something they should just properly advertise as what it is. You're going to find out anyway if purchase it.I hope that helps someone. So, if one want something that looks as this does - it may be for you. However, for me, imo, "hand made" means "well made" (not machined made, but well made). This is hand assembled in a production run - so, it holds no charm, for me, in my opinion - as some comment.
