Reading previous reviews, I thought the pole would be ...
Reading previous reviews, I thought the pole would be more substantial. One review said the aluminum thickness is 1/16" - 3/32" thick. The only place it is this thick is where a plastic threaded sleeve is inserted to join the two halves. I pulled the plastic plug at the other end and miked the wall thickness at approximately 1/32" (see the picture). The bottom slip ring is plastic (see picture) so I don't know if it will hold up to the weather and the weight of a double-sided 3' X 5' flag if there is any appreciable wind or rain. My old aluminum flagpole is badly dented where the mounting bracket bolt tightens down to secure the pole in the holder, and I suspect this one will do the same. In my opinion "Heavy Duty" is questionable. However, I will try to use this pole and post the results.

Always have your flag unfurled with this product
I have a 5 foot flagpole next to my front door, and the area is a real wind tunnel. Our flags were constantly getting wrapped over the pole until nothing at all was hanging down. Needless to say, this defeated the purpose of even hanging a flag at all. We tried various methods to weigh the flag down itself, but nothing worked for more than a day or two. I did some browsing online, and learned that spinning flagpoles would solve the problem. This one was in the size and color I wanted, and was very affordable, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Just like that, problem solved. I've had this in use for about 3 months now, and my flag is almost always hanging straight down with no problems. Even in very strong wind, the flag remains in the proper position. About the only time it isn't in position is when we have a wreath or something else hanging up; then, sometimes a loose fiber might get caught, and we have to un-snag it. But I would say 99% of the time my flag is now maintenance free. I would definitely purchase again. Thank you!

Very Sturdy Pole Recommended with Different Rings and Carbiners
This is a good sturdy flagpole that seldom allows the flag to furl--that only happened twice when it was raining hard. I never take it down and I've had it for 6 months in all kinds of weather. So why only 4 stars? The rings that the flag attaches to are made of plastic. We have so much wind here that the metal carbiners actually wore through the plastic rings. So I'm about to buy a quality set of metal spinner rings and attach them to the spinning part of the pole. The only other recommendation I can make is to lubricate the spinning part of the pole (and the spinner rings if you buy some) with silicone grease. WD40 will work but only lasts a couple months; the grease should last a year. We had a wind storm recently that brought down a couple telephone poles and several trees and had my 3X5 flag standing straight out. I thought it would break my 1" pole, but it held up to that storm and still works fine, other than the plastic clips. So I do recommend this flagpole, but suggest more substantial rings and carbiners for worry-free operation.

Yes - this *is* the flag pole you have been looking for.
Yes. Yes. Yes. This has made my life so much easier. Over the past week since I have put it up, I haven't had to unwind my flag once. Actually - that's not true - I did have to unwind it once. Only the top half of this pole rotates, so it's important that both corners of your flag are attached to the rotating part of the pole. I mistakenly attached the bottom corner of my flag to the bottom, non-rotating part of the flag pole. Human error (and kind of a dumb one). Additionally, my old setup didn't have clips - it only had those weird plastic clamp-things with the plastic screws, so every time I wanted to change flags I had to unscrew everything. We are sports pilgrims in an unholy land - so we change our flags frequently based on who is playing. I can easily do that now with this setup. The pole is extremely light-weight and I will be interested to check its durability in the long-run (and in super windy conditions), but it does exactly what is says it does - and it looks a LOT better than the boring metal rod I was using. Big fan.

Good product, Good price.
After quite a bit of research for a flag pole that wasn't about to fall apart coming out of the package, I came across this one. I was looking for a sturdy, 5' (they also have 6') flag pole to hang horizontally off of our balcony. I paired it with a "Heavy Duty Multi-position Bracket" that is adjustable from Front Line Flags. This pole is the right compromise between looks and function. It seems to have no trouble holding our 3' x 5' American flag even in windy conditions. As far as the "no tangle" function of the pole goes, I can't say I never have to go out and fix the flag, but it is quite a bit less frequent than the pole we had before that did not have that function. I gave four stars because the pole does what I need it to, but I would like it to feel a little more sturdy. Maybe a thicker wall tubing to stiffen it up. I would recommend this product.

Want a Flagpole That Will Last? Look Elsewhere.
This flag barely lasted me a year. Upon taking it down for the winter, I found one of the plastic hooks snapped, another on the verge of breaking, and then as I set it down, about 20 small balls popped out of the pole near where the hooks connect to the aluminum pole. This spilled all over the floor, and there are probably some still hiding from me - a bit concerning given how a baby could find and swallow them rather easily.I'm disappointed in the product and wonder how the company responds to such reports on their products. Not sure if they'll stand behind this.
