Figuratively Speaking, Gr. 5-8

I thought that this book would have excerpts from books to talk about the figurative language. Instead it just refers to the various books expecting us to be familiar with them already. Anyway, I returned it because it was not going to be a good fit for us.

As a homeschool family we love to find a source that is clear, straightforward and not too tedious. This is such a solid source.

The literary excerpts are from public domain works and aregenerally very short but effective models.

Great figurative language workbook. Great examples from literature. Includes several practice and learn elements throughout for each term.

I use the pages in this book as bell ringers and as a way to introduce new topics.

Perfect for middle school.

I appreciate the clear explanations and selections from Literature. Many of the extracts are from US literature, which is as expected, since it's an American book. I just wish there was an equivalent book with more extracts from a wider anglophone literature available for UK students.

I'm an English teacher in the UK and have found this book very useful as an aid to introducing figurative language. Lots of great ideas.
