Absolutely LOVE Zesty!
For a lot of years, my favorite grater was one I got from Pampered Chef. It was small and easy to handle. When it broke, I started looking for something similar to replace it. The choices in my retail area were all large and unwieldy. [sigh!] So I looked at Amazon and landed on the Zesty.Amazon notified me that shipping had been delayed a few days, but the UPS guy brought it at the correct time. Woo-hoo! My husband made a big pot of chili for us for which we needed lots of grated cheese and I made several batches of lemon-zest flavored muffins over the next several days. In the meantime our dishwasher died, so I was washing everything by hand. I washed the Zesty every time I washed dishes! My husband says we need two of them--I think he's right. We both love it, LOVE it! And on the off chance it goes back into the drawer, we absolutely make sure to put the cover on it. Zesty is SHARP! It grates cheese into the most beautiful whimsical curls. It zests lemons like nothing I have ever used. The handle is so comfortable! It is ergonomic, so that your hand goes into a quite natural position. I really like the nine little dots for my thumb to rest on at the top of the handle. I'm pretty sure it's a safety feature to help you be mindful not to position your thumb any higher lest it slip up into the very sharp part of the tool. The grating motion is EFFORTLESS.Handwashers, be aware that you need to treat this exactly like a knife. Don't just plop it into the sink with silverware. Hold it the entire time to avoid painful accidents. The Zesty folks have sent me several emails, one to apologize for the holdup in delivery, and one to see whether I had yet received the zester/grater, both with RECIPES. They even promise more recipes!I already love this tool and this company. You will, too. I'll be ordering a second Zesty soon!

More than just a below average grater; spam emails and multiple calls from the company. Do not believe the reviews, do not buy!
The two star review is for the product itself, however the company would receive -2 stars if that was the question for harassing emails and phone calls following the purchase. After a box of our kitchen items went missing on a move which included our Microplane grater we were looking for a replacement. Based on price alone and the 108 reviews and an average rating of 4+ stars we decided to go with the zesty brand. Big mistake. The product feels cheap. Where the stainless part of the grater meets the handle it feels as though it is going to just pull apart and there is an excessive amount of play in that junction. Further, the blades do not feel as sharp as their competitors and the cutting surface is much smaller and does not have the cutting blades on the edges like the Microplane which is nice for some applications. I know grade inflation is rampant in our schools, but that also appears to be the case with product reviews as I am not sure how anyone could rate this grater as 5 stars unless you were an employee with profit sharing options, the family of said employees, this is the first grater you ever used since you moved out of your parents house and have been using a multi-tool previously to grate cheese, you own the company, or you were so happy that zesty sent you 15 emails with free recipes begging for a positive review you gave them 5 stars. As promised and not reflected in the 2 star review. Lets talk for a moment about what you can expect after your $15 purchase because you are entering into a relationship with a company who assumes you would like to receive multiple emails with what I can only assume are recipes that were found from a Google search and thrown in to distract you from their underlying begging for a positive review...If you suffer from low self-esteem or spend most days browsing dating sites you might enjoy this interaction. But if you are the type that immediately opts out of spam emails you are in luck because just a few short weeks after sending your request you will stop getting your daily emails from Zesty. And just as you breathe a sigh of relief...wait for it...your phone rings on a Tuesday during work hours and a Zesty representative is asking...neigh...begging you to answer just a few short questions about your recent purchase. Save your time and irritation, spend a couple of extra dollars and get a far superior product in the Microplane and save yourself the hassle of dealing with Zesty.

Prefer my old cheap zester, here's why... :'(
The Zesty is very well made and the grip feels solid in your hand. I like the protective cover as well. The product works well as a microplane for cheese and garlic cloves. For zesting lemons/limes though? I'll still with my cheapy old-fashioned one with the little holes at the top. There are 2 major differences between Zesty and Cheapy:). The first is the blade. The Zesty has a long, wide and sharp surface area. On the plus side, you get more zest faster. The down side is you are more likely to get pith (The bitter-tasting white layer between the zest and the fruit.) Zesty also paints with a broad brush so you'll get better precision with the Cheapy when targeting lemon zest. The second and more irritating difference is that far more zest sticks to the tool than lands in the plate (see photo). Lemon zest contains lemon oil so when clearing it from the back of the Zesty, it not only sticks to your finger but also gets caught in the cutting area and grooves on either side of the tool. The waste is especially frustrating when zesting small fruit like key limes or my favorite tiny organic lemons.I will keep the product. It is a nice microplane and I may even use it to zest oranges quickly, but for my tiny lemons deserving TLC, my cheap, old faithful cannot be replaced.

No brainer. Buy this.
Other than the pyrex measuring cup we bought 40 years ago this is the best kitchen essential we have ever bought for so little money. Well made, stainless steel with a comfort handle, protective cover (which is nice since this grater is as it should be: sharp! Amazon screwed up the shipping (first time that has happened to us) and Zesty stepped in immediately and got it to us almost overnight. Customer service doesn't get any better than that. We will buy more of these as gifts (since we don't see why we would ever need another ----- this is heavy (in a good, substantial way) quality and looks and feels like it will last a lifetime. One of the kids will be happy when they inherit it. Do yourself a favor. Get one and become the zesting envy of your foodie friends. A+++
