Baby Signs: A Baby-Sized Introduction to Speaking with Sign Language

I have a 9 year old daughter who not only learned to communicate well before she was talking, this was the first book she "read" in signing to me while turning the pages. It's been MUST gift for any new parent I know and my daughter loves to tell the story. Communication wise, the perfect set of words needed to get to the talking stage with very little frustrations between us (AKA nearly no tantrums, at least that I can remember).

Super cute book that toddler loves!!

I bought this for part of baby shower gift. If I receive an invitation and are asked to give a book, I always purchase this. I taught sign language to my granddaughter and it completely works. The Mom-To-Be loved it.

My book came in a timely manner but is a bit warped - not a big deal to me. It says on the book it is for ages 6 months and up. The illustrations are super cute and the baby sign instructions, I think, are pretty easy to pick up. I gave only four stars because it doesn't give signs for "please" or "thank you. " It teaches milk, water, more, all done, diaper, dog, cat, it hurts, help me, mommy, daddy, book, and sleepy. If it would have included the other two aforementioned words, I probably would give it a 5. It's basically a book for parents that the kids can look at too. (I'm not sure if the signs are ASL.) This will be a great start for my younger son! (My older son only knew "more" and "please" and it was so helpful, but "help me" could have made life so much easier with a lot less whining and fewer frustrated tears! ) I'm excited to try out the new signs!

I am trying to teach my toddler basic essential sign language for babies. I like this book it shows an example of how a baby might use this sign and has a written description for the parent so they can effectively and accurately show their baby how to do the sign. My 15 month old has no problem holding this book or flipping through the pages.

I'm telling my niece all the things i think are great for babies. Sign language helped my daughter who had difficulty with speaking. So, my niece's baby is brand new, but I'm encouraging her to sign now, because of how much it helps language development. Definitely a great gift for new moms and babies. 🙂

Easy understand

Esta muy simple de entender y los dibujos muy bonitos y llama la atención de los bebés si lo recomiendo. .

Uses words like diaper instead of nappy etc! Not BSL just read description thoroughly

Cute illustrations and practical vocabulary. A good mix of starter ASL signs. Reading and signing together can help build vocabulary and literacy skills simultaneously. My favourite gift to give new parents.
