Foam Rolling: 50 Exercises for Massage, Injury Prevention, and Core Strength

Foam rollers and crossfit
Many times at crossfit they have foam rollers and just let you figure it out after a very brief introduction for your quads and hamstrings. It is nice to have a clear example for each muscle group. I also really liked the core exercises. I have learned over time that it is all of these small stabilizing muscles and mobility that will limit your progress because you can't land the correct form after you get a little tired. I will be incorporating these into the rotation.

Comprehensive for both fitness and releasing tight muscles
The author does a super job of explains how to use a foam roller to release tight muscles (and what not to do) and gives a plethora of exercises to increase your core stability.

Worth the time!
A one time purchase of a sturdy foam roller and this book plus a little dedication and you will be one your way to a to a more relaxed, content, and possibly pain free individual. This book is short and easy to follow but the only downside is the pictures are often on a different page than the description. Other than that, great addition to your self help arsenal.

Not a good read
Not a good read. Exercises are not detailed and useful.Opinions / suggestion from author is kind of general and not specific. Most text before the exercise is not useful and skied. The exercise show only one or two photo and most of them I think is not useful as all.

Great pics with instructions!
This book has helped me so much! I have been in physical therapy for years for my back and that's where I was introduced to the foam roller! I got this book in an attempt to expand my stretching ability and I am thrilled with it!! Easy to follow instructions, pics help, even my therapist loved it!! Thanks for the great ideas that have increased my strength and flexibility so much!

I think there are many good techniques shown in the book
I think there are many good techniques shown in the book. The only downfall is that the paper is so thick, it is hard to keep the book laying open flat. Normally books have very thin, cheap paper. This one is quite the opposite.

A must-have guide!
An excellent book, with easy-to-follow exercises and thorough explanations of the reasons for them. I particularly like the chapter on the negative effects of prolonged sitting (which most of us do!), and how foam rolling can counteract them. John Watson's photos are outstanding, with the author wearing a differently-coloured top in each of the 3 sections (Flexibility & Mobility, Self-Massage, Strength & Core Stability). A minor criticism of the layout would be that the Table of Contents might have included these 3 sections under Chapter 5, and that page 77 (hamstrings) is showing the same photo as page 81 (calves). But Karina's explanations and instructions make it very clear which muscle group is meant.
