Don’t be intimidated this was easy
The individual who recommended the you tube video by 741 mongoose expo scooter was right! Find it and watch it. He goes step by step! Get your tools together first and watch the video. I am not mechanically inclined I haven’t done this before. But, I was able to do this by watching the video. The total time is about an hour maybe less. The tires do need to have air put in them once you finish.

Fun, stable ride if built right
I was planning to try to assemble this myself, but my brother happened to be in town on just the right day and put it together for me, including greasing the wheel bearings. He used to be a bike mechanic for quite a few years, so I was fortunate to get free, expert assembly. I had also ordered a kickstand for a 12" wheel bicycle, but my brother said the axle wasn't long enough for it. I ended up getting a scooter stand just for storing it upright in the garage, and it's working great so far: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08H5MZ4PGThis scooter is a lot of fun to ride for both my almost 10 year old son and for me (much older Mom LOL). I'm 5'4", and we raised the handlebars a bit. He's about 4'9". The height works fine for both of us. The brakes are not super strong, even with proper adjustment, but they work.

Fairly sturdy, foot deck could be longer, handlebars could be taller
Arrived undamaged with all parts. Make assembly easier by searching YouTube for 'Mongoose Expo Assembly' and pull up the one by 741 radios. His kid is pretty entertaining, too. Also read the book as you go along for some of the finer details like brake adjustment. I'm medium handy and it took about 1.5 hours. You'll need a 10 mm, 14mm, and 15 mm open end wrenches. I also had a set of hex wrenches nearby.Have fun

Could be better
The brakes are mediocre no matter how much you tighten them, building the scooter is awkward because the directions aren't good and the end caps come right off the brake cable and are sharp. I cut myself twice because of this and am leery to have this on a children's toy. I bought some electrical tape to cover this but I shouldn't have to. I do like the bigger tires though. Most scooters today have too small of wheels.

Breaks are garbage
Brakes are absolute garbage. If it has good breaks 5 stars all the way. Everything else is great. We still use it, but not for our intended purpose for it, which was to have a dog pull me. I’m sure I’ll end up redoing all the breaks with better stuff

Nice scooter for teenager
Teenager likes it, but I feel it could be taller. They have to use it kind of hunched over. Kid is 5’6” tall. So nay talker it would be a problem I think. It’s more like a bike than a scooter. Was easy for mom to assemble, I watched a YouTube video, and did it in about 1/2 hour by myself. Anyone who likes assembling things can do it. Instructions are included but pictures and print are so small that it was hard to make out, so I found a video instead that someone had posted.

Unprotected, exposed brake cable on the undercarriage damaged going over first bump
Junk scooter. Why all the good reviews?I see the scooter is now going for 1/2 price of what I paid for it just a short few weeks ago. Not surprising given the quality. The brakes are garbage. Almost impossible to adjust. They used the absolute worst components. I can barely adjust them to get any kind of braking and they're so big, they're rubbing constantly. And trying to engage them requires a feat of strength not possible for a 10 year old. This scooter is basically a death trap for anyone using it and hoping to brake.Even worse the rear brake cable pops out along the bottom tube. This major oversight had the brake cable rubber scrapped off within an hour of trying it out on a moderately uneven paved surface. Don't let the big fat tires give you any sense of security this scooter can roll over the slightest uneven terrain, because it won't. If you are on pavement or go over anything solid (rock, curb), you will damage the brake cable sleeve immediately.I had to fashion a skid plate for this absurd design flaw and I'm not sure how long it will hold up.They should have had that cable enter along the side in the first place and run the interior of the tube, but whoever designed this wasn't thinking of actual use.Unsure why they made this decision and how they could not have encountered the exactly problem I did within an hour of testing. Did they test it on anything besides flat polished concrete? The reason I wanted this scooter was because of the air filled tires and ability to ride on something that's not completely smooth. Otherwise, I would have just bought a scooter with polyurethane wheels. What a absolute disappointment and a complete failure of a gift for my 10 year old son. Now I have to replace his birthday gift.Don't waste your time and money on this junk product.
