Best DIY Tool Ever!!!
This is my third Zip-It to buy. Not because they stop working, but because I give them away to help out a friend with a clogged drain. This tool is so easy to use and does the job!!! With severely clogged drains, I've had to use a product like Liquid Plumber or Draino to loosen up the clog and pull out the gross stuff (mostly hair). The first one I bought in the mid 2000's. I gave it to my sister in 2008 because she had a bathtub that kept backing up. Her apartments wouldn't do anything about it. The tub had been painted and flakes of paint were going down the drain and clogging it up. We used Draino on the clog when I couldn't get much out using the Zip-it. Then stuff started coming out -- hair and paint chips -- yes it's gross. The drain still wasn't draining properly so I put the Zip-It in as far as possible and it got stuck. Took about two minutes of moving the Zip-it around until it finally came out with the lid of a shampoo bottle on the end of it!!! Unbelievable. I have no idea how the cap could've got down that drain. Anyway, my sister never had problems with the tub drain again and she kept my first Zip-It..My second Zip-It stayed with me from 2008 until 2022. I was on the phone with my 72-year-old friend and she told me she was gonna have to take apart the u-trap because her bathroom sink wouldn't drain properly. I told, don't do that. I'll loan you my Zip-it. She was very skeptical!!! I loaned her my zip-it and some Liquid Plumber. She texted me the next day and said her drain was draining better than ever. She used the Liquid Plumber and Zip-it. It only took her 15 minutes to clear out the drain, but it was a lot easier than she thought it would be.Thank you to the inventor. This is a great DIY tool!!!

Works great, but of lesser quality than earlier
First let me say that this simple strip of plastic with barbs is an absolute work of genius. It is the simplest way to clear a sink drain of hair and gunk. No chemicals, plungers, or fuss. The thing works in moments. In my bathroom sink, hair inevitably clogs the drain. Used to require waiting until my busy building super had time to come. Quite a few years ago, I found this item, which was new at the time. Since then, as soon as I hear the "glug glug" indicating that my drain is starting to get clogged, I thread this gadget down, pull up the gross clot of hair making the problem, and get on with my eblutions. So, with all this enthusiasm, why did I take off a star? It has taken me years to need to replace the very first Zip-It I bought. When I was ordering the replacement, I wondered why I'd need a pack of three, and why the description mentioned that they were disposable. Turns out that the very first time I used one of the new ones, and for a pretty small clog, the Zip-It was shot. The barbs are bigger and harder to thread down the drain than the older one, and they were pretty much destroyed in one use.I mean... it still worked, but what a shame. More plastic for the landfill, and not as good as the original. Breaks my heart a little.

Expensive drain cleaning
Easy to use. Pretty disgusting how effective it is at removing hair— don’t eat anytime around declogging your drain. Liked how it did actually remove the hair. However, I found that it did not get all the hair out on the first try so I had to use a second one in the package. Was hoping to span out the use so I could get more of my money’s worth, but I couldn’t find a way to get the hair/gunk off the first strip (latches on pretty tightly, like it’s supposed to). So I guess it depends on how much your drain is clogged, you may need to use more than one.

Great for regular "maintenance"
I have long hair. Even though I have screens over both, sink & tub drains(in bathroom), I'm still surprised how many loose hairs escape into these drains!? I use this gadget about every 6 months, or so, to stay ahead of a *bigger problem*......having to disassemble a pea drain is a nightmare(huge mess, never goes back the same, always leaks, etc). Another feature to this product is the length!! I bought a few others at hardware stores and they didn't reach the "tangles",lol. I seriously don't think this tool is meant for giant clogs that have been three years in the making(prolly need an auger for that) but, it's excellent for the tiny clogs. For me, I consider this product to be "disposable".....tried to clean the first one I used but, the barbs stabbed my hands and shredded the paper towels, plus full of germs & gross!!! In my opinion, they are inexpensive enough to keep a handful on inventory....I mean, it's not like you're going to use one every damn day. Also, it's oddly satisfying to pull a wad of hair out of a drain(in less than 2 minutes)....stinky & gross, yes.....but, very gratifying to watch the water drain very quickly, unfettered and with no hesitation. All in all, a great tool to keep on hand, and use accordingly. YaY!! :)(PS, would also like to say that most people think clogs are stuck in the pea trap......not true>the clog will be further along in the drain pipe, which is why you can't see it when you look down the drain.....and is "why" this gadget is a total gem for being 25 inches long. Like I said, use accordingly, and happy drain cleaning to all!!!) Cheers!!

Did not work for me
It was too flimsy to get down my drain. I'm renting an apartment and must take some things as they are. The drain stopper which does not detach from the drain is one such thing. The flat shape of the tool handle and flexibility of the tool made it difficult for me to push the tool down into the drain without my hand slipping down onto the barbs. I quickly abandoned this effort and went to a different tool that was more of a snake like rod that I was able to push all the way down into the drain and a brush at the tip to catch the hair. It had a handle that rotated the tip like fishing rod. The snake like rod tool was very effective. This zip tie kind of tool was not effective at all.

Cleared drain quickly
The Zip-It was very easy to use. I cleared my drain in less than a minute. It was a nightmare how much hair was in the drain, and the Zip-It made it easy to clear out.

Money Well Spent
After months of trying to get the sink unclogged this worked in about two minutes. It was so easy! I've had plumbers use snakes in the past that didn't work at all so I really didn't want to go that route. They should all have a Zip It :)The info that came with it says they are unbreakable but when I was straightening them one looked like it wanted to refute that claim. I'll use that one last but it's such an awesome product and you get three that it really isn't an issue.

Unclogged in minutes
Unclogged our bathroom sink in less than five minutes. The culprit was a rusted and corroded hair clip that was probably more than 10 years old.
