This was perfect and very happy this worked out
This was perfect and very happy this worked out! I have an older home with a "Push and Pull" type plumbing system. Bought a kit at Lowes only to find out all those styles don't work for what I had, unless I replaced the guts of my plumbing inside my wall and tiles. No way did I want to take that on. Lowes also only sold the plastic-glass type sets for this system. So I was stuck until I found this and the color I needed. It worked great and easy to do. It has 3 types of Hole patterns which were huge and allows lots of flexibility for install to line up with what's in your wall. The fancy knob was awesome so I didn't have to use the glass knob. You can rotate everything to make it all work. The directions were just a bit tricky, but spend the 10 min. to read them and it's a breeze. The main reason they were tricky is for all the different variations and parts, which is great in all reality. Just get the parts and steps for what option you choose and it's no problem. The bronze color was great looking, lots of high end parts, options, and I thought pretty durable. Everything fit nicely and it seems built to last. NOTE: Other reviews said how uneven this was against the wall - Could be, but in most cases shouldn't be. I ran into this at first, but quickly realized this: On the back side of the main plate, there is a smaller outer circle that sticks out further then the main plate. (Size of the handle area shown in the pick) This is meant to go INSIDE the wall. I had to chip out a little bit of tile so that it could do that. Once that part sits into the wall, then the main plate is perfectly flush. I didn't even have to use caulking it's so flush. If you do not have a hole in your tile around the plumbing, then this could give you some issues. You will need about a 3-4" hole in your tile where the plumbing is. I luckily had this. But, I would have had to rip a much bigger hole to try and replace the inner plumbing joints with the new style faucets at Lowes. I felt it was extremely universal and it was an easy install. Great product. Thanks

Nice fix and looks good.
The item is great. It is everything you need to replace a worn handle if you have any one of three different valves.

Many configurations, none worked for me.
The existing shower faucet is circa 1992 and chrome. Wanted to switch to oil rubbed bronze. Ultimately, none of the configurations of this unit would work and I wound up spray painting the existing trim. The kit comes with multiple pieces to mix-and-match. I needed to use the center insert with screw holes on the diagonal and the corresponding sleeve. The sleeve had a larger diameter than the original - OK but not great. The plastic pull-and-turn knob did not work well with this sleeve. The lever handle didn't fit either. Even if it did, I think it would have been a bit awkward to have to pull on the lever to turn on the water, it's really designed for valves where you only need to turn the lever. One other critical comment. The sealing gasket on the back of the trim is made of flexible rubber, It is supported in only a few spots around the circumference. The original gasket is a compressible foam and continuously supported. I wonder how well the new gasket will seal. It certainly would not seal where it crosses a grout line. The appearance of the trim is good.

Works really well when installed correctly
I bought a fancier shower handle when we decided to redo my bathroom, and it didn’t go with the valve cartridge I have, so I had to return it and get this. I was afraid, after the reviews that it wouldn’t work, but it actually works really well! The trick to keep the handle (the mental one, not the crystal plastic one) from being loose is to screw the screw under the handle in ALL THE WAY. That means screwing it in until you can’t move it anymore. It seats up inside the bottom quite a ways, and it seems like it’ll never get tight, but it will. I promise! There are two holes for the screw. The bottom one you insert it into (which looks way too big and it took some looking at the setup to figure out if I even had the right screw) but there’s a space and then the upper smaller hole that the screw goes into that holds it in place. You absolutely HAVE to keep using the allen wrench and screwing it in until it’s just over hand tight. That very last little bit of turning will pull the handle in and it’ll be tightly fitted. It’s not the look I was going for, but it functions really well.

Finish Peels
Easy to install and looked great at first but now 1 yr later the finish is peeling off the base of the handle and we have to replace it again.

Decent at best
I like the idea of switchable inner plates to fit all moen fixtures, however, why is the entire escutcheon made out of plastic? My original moen escutcheon had a decently sized indentation in the middle where as this one is very subtle, because of this when first mounting it to the proper fit, the handle didn't reach the stem properly so when i would insert the bolt, it would pull the stem out slightly causing it to open slightly so it wouldn't close/shut off the water properly. i tried multiple fixes at first since i didn't know what exactly was causing this and it wasn't until i fit the old fixture back on that i realized what exactly was going on. once i saw the issue was the escutcheon not being deep enough, i put the danco back in and tried over screwing the bolts on the frame, on metal this would be fine as it would simple suck the entire plate in, however when i first attempted it, the edges of the bolt holes gave out, i had to add some washers to make it fit proper. i fear since its been over screwed like this to make the inner section deeper, since its plastic, it will one day give out instead of staying warped like metal would. anyway those are the reasons i gave it a 3

This Danco 10001 Universal Trim Kit for Moen in Chrome is an excellent product. It took me about 1 hour to get through the instructions and complete the installation. The instructions were easy to follow and the good quality parts fit properly. Removal of the old original Moen parts and the installation of the Danco replacement parts was easy and straightforward. The unit works as expected and as you can see in the accompanying photo, it looks very nice. Thanks Danco for making a great replacement product. Highly recommended. [CAUTION NOTE: One important thing to remember if you're going to use this bath faucet handle is to grab and pull the handle by the centre of the handle to turn the water on and to push the handle back in the same fashion to turn the water off. Do not use the handle lever to turn the water on or off as this may put undue stress on the unit. The lever portion of the handle should only be used to adjust the water temperature by turning the lever from left to right and vice versa.]

I wouldn't normally review a product like this, but other reviews saved me a lot of time when researching the subject. I had a leak from my bathroom shower. I managed to remove the old Moen plate and knob handle to see that I had the Moentrol valve (the one before the PosiTemp). I also needed to replace the shower head and decided to update all with matte black. Turns out that this Danco set is literally one of the only viable options on the market for this valve in matte black. An important note: a few reviewers mentioned the handle being loose and wiggly, and after installing, I had the same thing. I was disappointed, but tried one last thing: I took it apart and bought a new cartridge (Moen 1225, $40CAD at Home Depot) and reinstalled. It's now perfect. The handle slides in and out with zero resistance and turns seamlessly. The escutcheon is plastic, but the overall look is exceptional and clean. Don't scratch the handle or over-work the black screws, as the imperfections will show. Otherwise, this was a perfect solution to avoid opening up the wall and replacing the old plumbing.

It's worth to fix the old shower without replace the whole unit.

Essentially the only decent modern-ish black MOEN retro-fit option, if you do not want to change your shower valve. The echelon plate itself is plastic and feels cheapy, but it does the job. This is an upgrade suitable for most older MOEN shower valves.

4 months of use and the finish on this product is already peeling off, 4 months and I can’t return it and I’m now jumping through hoops to try and have it replaced. Honestly save yourself the headache and move on to something and save your money. If I could give this product a zero… I would.
