Universal Cell and Smart Phone Car Mount Holder for Auto Dashboards

A couple of the earlier reviews here made me nervous to purchase because 1) my dashboard is textured & 2) my windshield is at a fairly tilted angle. My original intent was to use as a mount for my iPhone while using it for navigation in the car. I also needed the mount to be near enough to the lower dash power socket to allow for the phone to be plugged in during use. (12-15 hr long car trips... didn't want the iPhone conking out when needed the navigation from it). So, first I tried it on the dash. Despite the flexible gooey gel stuff on the bottom, I really wasn't able to get a lasting seal there - the suction would work initial, but there must have been slow leak(s) coming through the dash's texture, because a couple of hours later it popped off. :-/Next I tried it on the windshield, immediately to the left of the rearview mirror. Perfect. It hasn't budged since attached there. Seal is tight as a drum. The swivel (ball) joint seemed to flimsey at first (the angle of the phone would sort of sag downward from its own weight) -- until I realized that there is a ridged ring around the base of the ball that allows you to tighten it in your desired position/angle. The clamp has worked perfectly since then. I use it with a powerline mobile inverter ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042X8XPK/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) and my phone charges while I drive. :-]Although my initial intent was for the clamp to facilitate using my phone for navigation purposes, this placement also works great to allow hands free conversation (speaker phone) while driving.Very pleased with this and highly recommend it!

I ordered 2 of these. One for my Chevy Express work van and one for my Mazda 3.Good:The suction cups are EXTREMELY sticky. They stick to pretty much everything before you even squeeze the pressure out for the airtight suction seal.The clip is brilliant and can hold my S5 in any orientation no problem.Bad:It is plastic and I managed to snap the joint right below the ball while fiddling around with the correct mounting set up in my Mazda. The ball seemed jammed stuck by the nut. I'm sure it will hold fine with super glue, but spending $4 on glue for a $5 product isn't my idea of a great time. Be careful!Overall I'm impressed with this product as I was led to find it by being utterly furious of more expensive products not being able to keep a grip on my windshield, but I am a little disappointed with the quality.

I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but felt I needed to with this product. Have you ever just bought something that works? The way it should? At a great price? Plain...simple....easy....that's what this holder is. Economical, easy, no muss...no fuss....holds my phone firmly where it should (and I like the little rubber grippers that protect my phone from scratches and damage).Granted, I've only had this for 1 day...and I will update my review if anything changes, but for now. I've owned this car dock since April. When I first got it it worked fine. However I had to use it in several different vehicles and I guess the stress of removing it multiple times caused the suction cup base to come loose. It fell apart while I was driving today. I wasn't a big fan of the silicon material on the base anyway, everything stuck to it no matter where I stored it and it became less sticky over time. The title says "No Hassle Money Back Guarantee" so hopefully the manufacturer will get back to me about this.

I LOVED this holder; for about 2 months. I had it placed on the front of the dash on my Peterbilt. Even though my truck rides better than most others I've driven, I noticed the phone still was shaking while I was going down the highway. Well it eventually broke at the point where the actual holder tightens to the dash mount (the little ball under the adjusting nut). The dash mount never turned loose, not even once. It held my HTC One securely through thousands of miles. I did have to place the bottom of my phone into the holder because the red clamp would affect the volume control, which may have contributed to a little extra shaking. I've ordered another, since the first one was non returnable, because I have confidence in this unit. Also, it does take 2 hands to mount/dismount the phone. The spring is very strong indeed.UPDATE: 8/4/2014 The 2nd holder I bought I decided to mount it to the windshield. I place the phone in the holder allowing the base of the phone to rest on top of the dash. It doesn't obstruct my view and I can see who's calling even if I have it on vibrate. The only disadvantage using this method is the charger connects to the bottom of my phone which is resting on the dash. That requires removal from the holder to connect the charger. Minor irritation for such a great product. For 2 months now, the suction mount has never turned loose of the windshield. I wish I could say the same for my GPS.

This is the second purchase of this product; one for each vehicle. I like this because it is a simple design and works well! The suction cup securely holds your smart phone to the windshield during short or long trips. I like that there are many ways to adjust the position of the smart phone, so it is easy to view, but not a distraction.

I am unable to get this unit to attach to my dash; it will only attach to the windshield, thus limiting its use for my purposes. Otherwise, it seems well made. If dash is perfectly smooth, the unit will probably attach there.

This device is durable and it gets the job done. I expect it to last a very long time with its high quality construction. It is not the typical cheap accessory that you find at gas stations. I really like its low profile. It is a lot less bulky then other mounts, so less of your view is obstructed.
