HOW DEEP IS THE SKILLET?

The skillet is 3 inches deep plus the lid is rounded so you have 4-5 inches to play with. Makes the best fried chicken which is a delicacy here. We don't fry food regularly. Awesome skillet.

Can you fry one pound of bacon at once?

Just a comment. I like the top suggestion about using drippings to keep the cooking uniform. If you don't have these, you might want to use a lower setting to "melt" fat off the pound of fresh bacon until you have a layer of *fresh* drippings, then turn up the skillet to bacon-cooking temperature.

No, it isn't. Not much made in the USA these days. Sorry.But, I do like this pan. Bought it when we were waiting for our new stove, and it was very useful. Will keep it.
