Call it cheating, but I'm sold
This is a neat product. Simple, but effective. I generally carry dryer lint either dry or mixed with petroleum, and a mischmetal striker. That works quite well, but this is much more tidy. When you need a longer burn time, like starting a tough to light fire, this is handy like a very long burning match. I'm no survivalist, but I like minimal camping. I also like starting fires without rubbing sticks. For the size of a couple packs of gum, it has a home in my stove bag.To use it, just slide back the top, rough up a bit of the material so it's feathered, and hit it with a match or a striker. It lights easy, and burns like a candle. Once closed it cools off rapidly. It does have a strong resin/piney odor, but it's not obnoxious and hasn't stunk up my gear.It lights very easily with a match, but with a striker just make sure the fabric is nice and feathered up, then it will light easy. 30 minute burn time seems reasonable.

Super Usefull.
Not the easiest thing in the world to light with a ferro rod but it's easy enough. My main use for this, even if I am using a lighter to light it, is to use this in place of a tinder bundle to light my twig stove. Sometimes twig stoves can be a bit fussy to really get going but I can light this, crack the lid 1/3 of the way, set it at the bottom of my stove to light my fuel sticks and then once they are burning proper I can just close this up and put it away for later use. Basically I treat this as a nice tidy alternative to something like fatwood. The convenience of carry, use, and storage are well worth the $10.Also, it does still work after a dip in the river... just gotta shake the water off, fluff up the fibers and you're good to go.

Best portable tinder on the market
This is the best most useful tinder you can buy period!! I've done many hikes and campfires and tried many different tinders and they all suffer from the same drawback except this one... they are used up too fast. I have the lid open 10 percent make a small fire and burn for a minute to get all my tinder going then close it. works all the time, It uses so little of the tinder inside the box that Im sure you could do a hundred fires for 10 bucks, quick tinders would cost sooo much more then that to do an equal amount of fires. also this works if it gets wet or damp. this is truly a no brainer product, best in the class of portable tinder.

Effective fire starting material
This is a very useful product if your trying to get a fire going and all the natural tinder is to wet it also can be used like a candle unfortunately this is something you have to learn while using the product will need to buy more than one I have a handful of them in my pocket when I'm out about the woods.

This is the one.
I've tried 3 other fuels for emergency or camp fires using a fire starter. With the other three fuels it took a lot of effort, if I even got them lit. You could use this live fire to light those other solid fuel cubes. With the live fire you just needed one stroke of the rod and about two little sparks later I had a fire. You scrap up a bit of the fibers and put a spark on it and it lights right up. This is the way I imagined they'd work. There is one other that's from the military. It's solid toxane or something like that. It works well also, but it's expensive. Just figured I'd help some people save some time and money. I'd say the only two choices are this live fire and the military solid fuel. Both are excellent.

Overhyped
The product isn’t bad. It does work. But it dries out, isn’t the easiest to light with alternative fire producing methods, is awkward to use, and is pricey. For 9 bucks you can get a roll of procamptek fire tape and its less complicated, cheaper, is also multi use, and arguably easier to light.

Fits in any EDC pouch. Glad to have is
Fits in any edc pouch. Wax based so won't leak. Burns a long time, can vary size of flame, and starts easily with ferro rod. It's a bit expensive but worth having one around.

You had better have a bic lighter.
Just received this Live Fire Original today. I tried to light it with firesteel....no luck. This stuff burns but you need a bic lighter to get it started. I think they would have a more readily ignitable material if they would have just put clean cotton cloth in the can. I removed the yellow "flammable" material and replaced it with cotton balls smothered in vaseline. Now it lights with a single spark. The Live Fire is a total waste of money.
