Good book for beginners
I liked this book for what it is - a good, easy overview of different kinds of smoothies you can make. I've been making smoothies for a while, but usually just make things up 'as I go' with whatever I have on hand. The results are mixed, at best. So having a list of actual recipes around in the form of this book is pretty handy. There are a lot of different recipes in here, broken down into separate categories - smoothies with coffee, spiced smoothies, etc. I particularly liked the spiced ones.I've only tried a couple so far, but I am sure I'll be trying more - Coconut Fiesta was great! All the ingredients are readily available in most grocery stores. One thing I enjoyed was that it tells you what order to put the ingredients into the blender, when to add more, etc. I've only really run into smoothie recipes online that list off the ingredients and just leave you to figure it out. That added bit of direction is nice for making sure your smoothies have a good texture and that the veggies or greens you might add aren't stringy 'n gross. I highly appreciated that because I'd always figured a bit of stringiness was just something I had to live with in my smoothies. The book gives you a nice rundown of WHY each ingredient is in the smoothie, providing some info on the benefits of each ingredient. This can get somewhat repetitive, but it's easy enough to skim.As a few other reviewers have said, it would be nice if this included pictures. I'd also like detailed nutrition facts - % of daily vitamins, calories, and so on - for each smoothie. I can see how that might be more difficult for the author but I think it would help out a lot.I do plan to keep using this book for inspiration. It's certainly handy to have around as a 'first smoothie book,' or as inspiration for folks who've been making smoothies a while but tend to either fall into a rut or come up with mediocre smoothies when left to their own devices. These recipes will help you avoid that for sure. If you're a very experienced smoothie maker, or if you already have a bunch of smoothie recipes on hand, I'm not sure I'd recommend it as highly ... there's still good ones in here for sure. I think it's best for the relative beginner or someone who wants to step up their smoothie game past their initial fumbling in the dark (like me).I'd say it's something like 4.25 stars, honestly. Just a notch above four, but not quite perfect.I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest review and opinions.

Love these Smoothie Recipes!!!
This book has lots of great smoothie recipes. I really like how the author first writes the recipe and directions on how to make the smoothie. Then goes over why the specific ingredients are good for you. For example: “Acai Berries are fantastic for weight loss, and they have essential nutrients as well. It is said to reduce your appetite as well as to increase the energy that you have for the day. Not to mention that it has a lot of antioxidants.” I also really love how the directions for the recipes will tell you to blend certain ingredients first so that you don’t get a weird texture to your smoothie. For example the directions state to blend the Chia seeds, mint, spinach and parsley first to ensure a good consistency for your smoothie. I really like that this book is written is sections. The first section is recipes for coffee lovers. This is great if you love your morning coffee but want something a little bit nutritious. Also in the heat of summer nothing beats a cold coffee drink. The next section is Vegan Smoothie recipes. This is my personal favorite section I love berry and veggie smoothies. My favorite recipe A Blueberry Breakfast is in this section. This section also has lots of yummy green smoothie recipes. The following section is titled “A Little Spice in Your Weight Loss Smoothies. This sections is full of recipes that contain ingredients like jalapeno, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and chili powder. If you like a little kick to your smoothie this section is for you. The book also has a section titled “A Few of the Stranger Smoothie Recipes for Weight Loss.” Some of the strange ingredients include; Garlic cloves, avocado, hemp seeds, and green apple. So if you’re daring and into trying new foods this would be a good section for you.The last section is all about the chocolate lovers. Let’s face it! There is nothing more amazing than a diet that includes chocolate. So what better way to get your chocolate fix then with a yummy weight loss smoothie? There is nothing more refreshing than a smoothie for lunch on a hot summer’s day when the last thing you want to do is heat up the house by cooking a meal. I love smoothies in general but smoothies that help with weight loss. Talk about AWESOME!!! I received this product for free or at a reduced rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Great recipes
The introduction to the book explains how smoothies can be a good tool to aid in weight loss, but they are just that, a tool. The book talks about how smoothies are a good tool is because you control exactly what you put in them and it is easy to make them low calorie and packed with nutrition. It covers some myths about needing to add protein powder and some ingredients that may not be necessary and how this doesn't mean going on a smoothie diet. Going on a smoothie diet or even replacing two meals a day with smoothies some people think will make them lose weight, but it is also difficult to stick to and most people don't want a liquid diet. Not to mention that isn't something you can stick to for the rest of you life. The idea is more so adding smoothies into your routine that are low calorie and full of nutrition and maintaining the rest of your diet as balanced and healthy. It gives recipes for people with all different tastes such as coffee lovers. It talks about why it uses the ingredients it uses and the purpose or the role they play. Many of the recipes use plant milk in place of dairy milk, because it's much healthier and cows milk is suppose to make you gain weight. Think about it cows milk is meant to make a calf gain over 500 pounds in one year....it's not going to help you stay thin. The book has a lot of great recipes and wonderful explanations of the ingredients that will really help you get a better understanding of what each ingredient is doing. There are some recipes that call for dairy, but you could very easily substitute plant based products for a much healthier alternative. They also use honey in many recipes, but you could easily substitute agave nectar.I received this product free or greatly discounted in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Great smoothies, but honey shouldn't be included in the 'vegan' section
Great smoothies and interesting information about why the ingredients have been added but most of the smoothies under the 'vegan' section contain honey, which isn't vegan. Just a niggle and obviously it's easy enough to leave honey out if you are vegan.

Delicious smoothies
Easy to follow recipes. I like the explanations for why each ingredient is included. First day today and haven't felt hungry even after an hours swimming.
