67.5cm x 10m d-c-fix RIBBECK OAK sticky back plastic vinyl wrap film (200-8286)

I wanted to give the kitchen a spruce up and ideally wanted real oak to match other things in the house but its a PITA with all the down time and if im gonna change the worktops I might as well change the sink and taps and the hob so the price escalates. Real oak also needs to be treated with care with oils etc... and the edges need routing down, the other option is an oak effect worktop, which is cheaper easier to live with but still a faff to remove the old and then cut etc.... So i saw this stuff and was intrigued as its would solve the problem if it looked half decent, wrapping is all the rage on cars these days too! So I bought a small roll and tried is on a cheap old table and was pretty impressed even with first time attempt! So I got a larger roll and did one side of the kitchen worktop around the sink, and was really quite impressed with the finish. Good prep is vital though so a full scrap off around the edges of the sink for any limescale or dirt etc... a wipe down to remove any grease and then a light scuff with a scotch pad and final ISOPRO Alcohol wipe down before going nuclear! A hairdryer is you friend as a light tickle and it makes it much easier to stretch and manipulate around corners. a craft knife is vital too. I used a felt covered blade and then its just time and patience, it peels back off so its not the end of the world if its not the best first time round, just allow plenty of time. Its best to buy a roll that is big enough to cover the areas you need with at least 25% spare just to allow for any slight color differences between batches or rolls (it also allows for some spare for repairs and keeping the off cuts can help for minor patch matching later on too!) I am really quite impressed with the finish, I've had a couple of little tears during fitting but using the off cuts its quite easy to match a patch to cover the tear and unless its right in the middle you really need to focus to see any, they are normally around the edges that are hard to get at, (I've got a bowl style sink and wanted to minimise the number of cuts so had a couple of small tares but easily fixed) How long it will last only time will tell but looking at it and after its had time to bond, it really doesn't look any different to a preformed worktop with an oak effect thin veneer! Just cheaper and repairable from home. I an going to use a ceramic coating for cars as a final finish as this is like a hard surface over car wraps or paintwork so might hep it last a bit longer. This stuff is really pretty good and if you like to re-decorate the kitchens color schemes this could also be a really quick make over or even dry run to see if you like the colors before replacing a whole kitchen. If you had flat doors you can use the other colors to do the doors too! I am more than impressed and was not expecting much but I have to say the finish does not look cheap or tacky at all. Just take time to minimise any bubbles! (Ignore the tiles on the pictures as these will be finished off with sealant!) Good luck

Well I'm very surprised at the quality and the adhesive is quite strong. I resurfaced our campervan work top and tables. Love the wood patern. Brilliant finish. The only thing I would say is, you need a lot of preparation and patience, not in a hurry. It's best to buy a kit containing a smoothing tool and a tool that contains sharp blades. At times you can loose your temper and just want to rip the lot up and start again..Lol. Just take your time. Yes can highly recommend buying.

The media could not be loaded. Absolutely love this vinyl wrap! I don’t usually leave reviews but I really recommend this product. I’ve never done anything like this before and it was surprisingly easy to use, makes a huge difference and had so many compliments on it! Looks so much better and saved a fortune on buying new stuff. Definitely need a scalpel and a smoothing tool makes it so much easier, I got mine from Amazon and it was a life saver. I’m slightly addicted to wrapping now and trying to find other stuff to do as I have loads left! Definitely recommend this product to everyone!

Looks smart when on, not hard wearing, made a few nicks in it already, four hands seem to help, had a bit of bubble removal to do.
