Great Value For You Money and Performance
Unit arrived with the air tube missing for one of the air chambers. Therefore , no place for me to connect the air tube. Skimmer is 50% less effective without the 2nd air intake chamber connected. Poor quality control by the manufacturer.12/15/2016: Update to my initial review.I was disappointed the skimmer did not have a drain plug, so I added one....Will tell you more later. After many, many hours of adjustments I made my 2nd modification to the skimmer by adding a baffle in the collection cup....will tell you more later. The skimmer is a beast when it comes to producing bubbles, and eventually removing waste. At this price point I consider it a best buy compared to the top brands.Built quality wise the unit is good. I am not thrlled about the motors, but time will be my judge. The needle wheel impellers get clogged very easily, so make sure you keep the unit clear of all debry like algae. The unit is extremely quiet, energy efficient, and does no consume as much space as you would think for a unit of it's filtration capacity. The user manual has a lot to be desired. If you are new to protein skimmers the manual is of no help. The manufacturer could spend US$200 and produce a very, very useful manual.Support wise I am happy with the supplier. The 1st unit arrived wit a broken part and they were quick to ship me a replacement without any hassle. This type of customer support will go a long way with customer loyalty and repeat purchase. After the 1st week of usage...even with all the trials and tribulations of adjusting the skim level I am beginning to see improvements with my water condition. My nitrates level went from 80ppm to 40ppmPhosphate level went from 5 down to 1 even with a dead fish in the tank that I could not get toAfterSystem Parameters:Tank 300 galSump 125 gal with 5 gal bio-ballsMag Drive 24 pumpCal Amp 3900 gph pump4 in tank power headsRainbow Lifeguard filter systemBubble Magnus NC5 skimmerGo Aquarium G4000 skimmer800 lbs live rock36 fishes ranging in size from a 2' Green Ghromis to a 8' Queen AngelSalt used: OceanicWater replacement: 5 stage filtration....not RO water25% water change every 2 weeks.Overall rating is a 4.5.My rating is a result of all the difficulties I had adjusting the unit which lead to the 2 modifications I made on my own.06/19/207 Update:Both pumps in the skimmer died a day apart.Contacted the manufactured, Go Aquarium for a replacement as the unit comes with a 2 year warranty.Waiting for their response.
