U. S. Feminisms
Provides a good overview of the feminist movements n the U. S. I found the coverage of the 3rd Wave the most informative . Relief to know that feminism is not dead just evolving.

Quick Thoughts
I really wish I had started my reading on Feminism with this book. It really helped to flesh out my understanding of the different waves and created a comprehensive context for why Feminism is what it is today.

A short history, but both fascinating and informative
I found this volume to be very helpful for gaining an overview of the history of feminisms in the US. Dicker's treatment of the 1st and 2nd waves was especially beneficial, and her handling of the 3rd wave is about what one can expect of a short history trying to trace out the trajectories of a movement that is still developing.I did find her emphasis on continuity between the 3rd wave and earlier waves to be gratuitous; she did not sufficiently attend to the tremendous breadth in the 3rd wave that works at cross purposes with it being a distinctively feminist movement. Still, Dicker has ably identified several feminist strands within what appears to be a broader progressive, critical social justice movement, particularly the concerns for workplace sexual harassment that came to the fore with Anita Hill's testimony during the Clarence Thomas hearings in 1991 (although not all those strands can be equated with critical social justice perspectives; classical liberal emphases still seem to be at play even at the outset of the 3rd wave).Still, while the book faltered on some some fine parsing out of unique and contradictory strands within each wave (the only reason I couldn't give it 5-stars), I found it to be tremendously informative and orienting toward the present discourse surrounding feminisms and equality.

A great summary!
This is such a succinct, lucid, and digestible history of our progress so far that I'm planning on teaching it this year.

Very strong brief introductory survey
An exceptionally good, brief but inclusive, survey of feminist movements in U.S. history through today. A very good place to start if you want to know more about this subject but don't know which canonical texts to read first. Start here, follow up from footnotes and bibliography.
